Simply. Stunned.
Is exactly how I felt when Tim showed me the morning video from FOX News. In my mind, it is crazy to believe that I wasn’t even born when 9/11 happened, and I only knew about 45% of what I saw this morning.
Tears in my eyes.
Wondering how the many families felt that day after such a horrible terrorist attack. I couldn’t imagine if someone I loved was in that building. There is literally video footage of the exact planes that dove into the buildings and killed thousands. Then… the people that were burning alive and would rather fall hundreds of feet. What were their last moments? Was God covering their eyes and speaking into their ears?
I didn’t know.
We were shown videos in grade school that explained 9/11 in the simplest terms of two planes crashing into the Twin Towers, which led to the buildings collapsing. What I didn’t know was the third plane crashing into the Pentagon, the fourth plane crashing in Pennsylvania, tracking down the 19 terrorists, and how the entire country was affected by this loss.
Americans were left wondering:
Who’s next?
Are we safe?
Can we trust anymore?
Nothing is the same anymore. No one is the same.
Today, I’m thinking about the thousands of lives lost, the families who never got to say goodbye, the people who ran toward danger to save others, and a country that was forever changed.
