Meet Ileena. Her dream is .... “ to go to Disney World before I can’t see or hear anymore.” 2nd Seasons Hope of Marinette, WI is trying to help her and family get to Disney before that happens. 2nd Seasons does great work supporting medicine and financial needs of children and their families with emergency food, travel expenses and lodging. They also help children, like Ileena, fulfill a special wish to encourage them in their medical battle. More on Ileena. She has struggled with serious issues her entire life, having been born with a cleft palette and a very rare disorder called Stickler Syndrome, which causes severe blindness and hearing loss, along with joint problems. There is no known cure for Stickler Syndrome, but there are very costly treatments, medications, as well as sessions with specialists in Milwaukee. These all continue to be a huge financial burden the family.

Ileena’s vision and hearing have progressively gotten worse over time, and she is now legally blind. She is a sweet, compassionate little girl who has a loving family, big dreams and a lot of living to do!

Happy Easter everyone. Spring is "even more" in the air than it was when we first posted the St. Norbert College's Delta Phi Epsilon 4th annual Color the Campus for Cystic Fibrosis 5k Run/Walk. The fundraising event is "this coming on Saturday, April 22nd at 10 am," on the St. Norbert College campus.

So if you're in the Green Bay area and are inclined to run, walk and help support those doing research on Cystic Fibrosis, you still have time to sign up!

Smokey's on The Bay Bait Shop, located in Green Bay, WI has been helpful in supporting local breast cancer organizations by hosting an annual muskie tournament on the waters of Green Bay each fall. The sale and auction of customized pink muskie lures, autographed by Jordy Nelson and other Green Bay Packer Players have become a fun part of the event each September. I remember hearing growing up, as likely many of us Baby Boomers did, that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Runners, walkers and bicyclists gather each year to help support the educational efforts of The Breast Cancer Family Foundation. The group reaches out to youth and families in WI to help them understand how important maintaining good health and wellness are to the prevention of breast cancer. Our old neighbor (well she was young then), Kris Labutzke was the group’s founder and we’ve gotten to know other volunteers and staff over the years. Based on her personal history, Kris cared enough about the future of others to pull this all together and help many she’ll likely never meet.
