Nominations are being accepted for Grand Marshal for the 2026 Washington Court House Christmas Parade. Presented by the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks 129 and The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, this year's parade is going to be Sunday, December 6th from 3pm-5pm. Grand Marshal nominations must be submitted by October 31st. There is also a free parade entry for walkers, floats, cars, and bands with a November 30th deadline. All registrations, nominations, and sponsorship forms are available online now at www.fayettecountyohio.com/events/

The Greenfield Halloween Parade is set for October 27th. Lineup starts at 5pm with the parade at 6pm. After the parade will be a costume contest and Trick Or Treating. Hosted by Paint Creek Firefighters Local 4811.

The Visitors Bureau of Highland County has been honored as a finalist in four categories in the prestigious RUBY Awards competition. They brought home a RUBY Award for their Summer Scavenger Hunt in the Broadcast Ad and Digital Tools category. The Summer Scavenger Hunt encouraged visitors and residents to explore Highland County, discover local attractions and support our community partners along the way. The Ruby Awards is sponsored by Ohio Magazine.

U.S. Department of Energy Assistant Secretary Tim Walsh will be at the DOE Portsmouth site in Piketon tomorrow. Walsh will discuss the $33.3 billion investment to create the Portsmouth American Energy Hub and highlight its impact on the local Piketon community for increased job growth, economic development and affordable energy generation.

Step back in time and discover the ancient art of flintknapping with instructor Chris Shanley at the Ross County Historical Society. This will be a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the fundamentals of shaping stone tools using both percussion and pressure flaking techniques.
