Last week we attended the NCCJ of the Piedmont Triad, Inc. Annual Celebration, they're an incredible organization working to eliminate bias, bigotry, and racism - not an easy or quick task! Among program features, they honored Tobee and Leonard Kaplan, longtime philanthropists and change agents in the Greensboro Community. Our video was shown just prior to the Kaplan's accepting their award. It was a privilege to get to know all these people and share the experience too.

Behind the scenes, two legit manufacturing plant employees rolling with our flow as we figured out a shot in their industrial parts office. We're like "anything we can quickly use that'll spark or flame up?" And sure enough, they bust out a metal saw - and we got some sparks alright. Always fun to work with collaborative spirits!

We had fun with downtown Greensboro's Scooternerds when one of their mechanics took us for a quick spin through the neighborhood. The sax music here was recorded at a separate time when we caught a downtown busker on a great weather afternoon. We love it when folks get into the collaborative spirit!

MadMonk Sharon always has some creative project going on, at the office, for a friend, for herself, on the go. A youngster she knows aspires to be a Pixar animator some day, so Sharon went to work on a fun pair of customized, cool, hand-drawn Converse shoes. The rest of us will start sneaking notes under her keyboard with our shoe sizes and see what happens!

Walking back from Scuppernong Books, a locally owned downtown Greensboro bookstore and community center, watched a construction guy lift himself up to this old building's roof, easy peasy. It's been a long time coming, but the revitalization of the west side of the 300 block is really gettin' there!

Today's snapshot: Folks getting from point A to point B. Downtown Greensboro's old Southern Railway Station opened in 1927 as North Carolina's biggest station (hence the city's historical nickname, The Gate City). A major renovation in the late 1990s and early 2000s turned the complex into Gaylon Depot, an urban center for Amtrak trains, Greyhound buses, and local Greensboro buses as well.

We love this view through a nearby parking deck, where geometry, industrialization, spatial efficiency, and more come together under a skylight of grand scale. And this past April, it was great to have this deck entrance as "The Blender" obstacle in the Greensboro Campus Scramble, a downtown Greensboro urban race. Whomever designed this deck should be smiling around now.

We loved meeting inspiring people in McDowell County, NC. 441 square miles, approx. 45,000 people, rural community in the foothills of NC’s Blue Ridge Mountains, and a number of health challenges. We worked with The Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust to show how their Healthy Places NC initiative is helping make positive impacts in this historically collaborative community.

We had a fun time working with Greensboro Day School on a feel-good video short that energetically captures their longstanding tradition of excellence with student athletes and unveils their new Bengals logo, which looks forward to continuing that tradition with a roar! Enjoy!

We love working in Downtown Greensboro for many reasons, one big one being the challenge of creatively capturing it, such as in this tilt-shift photo* of Center City Park. This is how Gulliver would see us as Lilliputians!

But seriously, if you work or visit any downtown area, get out of the car and go for a stroll. Look for the details far and wide. It's good for the soul and our creativity.

*Tilt-shift photography is a creative and unique type of photography in which a life-sized location or subject looks like a miniature-scale model.
