7 REASONS WHY YOUR CHURCH ADS AND PLAN YOUR VISIT CAMPAIGNS AREN’T WORKING
If your “Plan Your Visit” campaign isn’t producing consistent results, it’s probably because of one (or all) of these 7 reasons.
Let’s talk about it 👇
---
1️⃣ YOUR VIDEO OR CREATIVE ISN’T GETTING ATTENTION
Before you ever invite someone to church, your first job is to get their attention. That’s it.
You only have 3–5 seconds to stop someone who’s mindlessly scrolling.
If your video or graphic looks like every other church ad — smiling faces, “join us this Sunday,” soft background music — you’ve already lost them.
You need something that pops. Something that makes people stop and say, “Wait… what was that?”
Your creative is the hook. Without it, your message never even gets heard.
---
2️⃣ YOUR OFFER SOUNDS LIKE EVERY OTHER CHURCH
If your ad says “We’re a church that loves people. Come be part of our family,” then you sound like everyone else.
Especially if you live in an area full of churches or mega-churches, blending in is the fastest way to waste your ad spend.
Now yes, that message can work for some — but it’s not enough for everyone.
You need to speak differently to different people. Create 4–7 ad sets, each targeting a specific type of person with unique videos and language that connect.
💡 Example 1: If you’re in the Bible Belt, don’t act like people have never heard of Jesus. Be direct. Say things like, “How many more funerals do we have to attend before we start listening to that voice inside?”
💡 Example 2: If you’re reaching college students, speak their language. “There’s no better place to find real friends — or your future spouse — than the house of God. Not the bars. Not the parties.”
That’s how you break through the noise.
---
3️⃣ YOU’RE NOT LEANING INTO WHO YOU REALLY ARE
Authenticity is everything.
If your kids ministry is amazing — 🎯 show that.
If your church is small but close-knit — ❤️ lean into that.
Say it proudly: “We’re not a crowd you get lost in. We’re a family that knows you by name.”
The future of church marketing isn’t about looking big… it’s about being real.
People can smell fake from a mile away. Authenticity will be the variable that determines online success for churches moving forward.
---
4️⃣ YOU’RE ATTRACTING THE WRONG PEOPLE
Let’s talk about it. Some of you are getting sign-ups from people who have zero interest in Jesus.
They just want free stuff, or a handout, or a quick emotional fix.
And deep down, you know they’re not the ones who are going to help you build the church or advance the Kingdom.
That’s not their fault — it’s your messaging and targeting.
You need to completely rethink your campaign from top to bottom 👇
🎥 The video
💻 The landing page
✍️ The copy
📋 The filtering questions
Ask yourself, “How can we qualify the people who sign up?”
Getting more leads isn’t the goal. Getting the right ones is.

5️⃣ YOU’RE RELYING TOO MUCH ON THE PLAN YOUR VISIT FORM
Go look at your ad analytics.
If you’re working with an agency, ask for all the data, not just the leads.
📊 How many people saw the ad?
📲 How many clicked?
📝 How many actually filled out the form?
You’ll notice a lot of people click but never submit their info. Why?
Because people don’t want to give out their number yet.
Instead, they’re checking you out quietly.
They’ll click your page, scroll through your sermons, look at your people, check your kids ministry, and watch your worship.
So stop treating your ad like it’s a one-step conversion. It’s just the beginning of the journey.
Your content, your website, and your consistency will finish the job.
---
6️⃣ YOU DON’T HAVE A FULL MARKETING APPROACH
If your only campaign is “Plan Your Visit,” you’re missing the big picture.
Your ad gets attention.
Your videos build curiosity.
Your website builds trust.
Your follow-up creates connection.
It’s all connected. Each piece plays a role.
If you’re not thinking about the full experience — from first click to first Sunday — you’re leaving impact (and people) on the table.
---
7️⃣ YOU’RE NOT FOLLOWING UP LIKE YOU SHOULD
This one’s the killer.
You can have the best ad in the world, but if you don’t follow up, it’s over.
And no, I’m not talking about a bunch of automated texts that sound robotic.
People are smart — they know it’s not real.
Automation helps, but personal connection closes the gap.
You need a real person — preferably a leader — who reaches out, prays with them, and makes them feel seen.
That’s what people are craving right now. Not just information, but connection.
