🌳 FIGAPALOOZA 2025 🌳
📍 4570 County Home Rd, Greenville NC
🕚 Saturday, September 6th • 11AM–3PM
🎟️ Free to attend • Free raffle entry at the door

🍷✨ RAFFLE SPOTLIGHT: THE TREE WITH A STORY
Every person who walks through the gates of Figapalooza 2025 will receive one free raffle ticket — just for showing up. No purchase necessary. Additional raffle tickets will be available for $3 each, giving you more chances to win from a growing list of incredible prizes — and this year’s headline prize is something truly special: a rare 3-gallon Israeli-7 fig tree, valued at $225 and steeped in local legacy.

This variety of fig was smuggled into the U.S. over 40 years ago by a pastor returning from a missionary trip to Israel. He found a fig so exceptional he risked international customs laws to bring back a single cutting. That cutting eventually became part of a local family's orchard and has been faithfully grown in eastern NC for nearly three decades. Its origin? Unknown. Its flavor? Legendary. This is a once-in-a-lifetime fig.

Additional raffle tickets: $3 each.

🎁 Raffle Prizes Include:
• 🌳 Israeli-7 Fig Tree (3 Gallon)
→ From Forest of Eden. A once-smuggled fig variety with deep local roots, grown in eastern NC for nearly 30 years. Valued at $225. Sweet, tropical-berry flavor. Common-type, no pollination needed.

• 🕯️ Barrel Stave Candle Holder
→ Donated by JuxtaposeArt. Handcrafted from authentic wine barrel staves — rustic, elegant, and locally made. A stunning heirloom piece.

• ☕ Three Fig-Themed Mugs + One Whiskey Glass
→ Donated by FigFanatic, the fig-growing community where newcomers and long-timers share knowledge, cuttings, and passion.

• 🪴 Gift Bag from Plants-n-Pots Playing in the Dirt
→ A garden-themed raffle prize from Geri Hardee, including a custom tee and more for plant lovers who play in the dirt.

• 🧴 Body Oil + Sugar Scrub Set
→ Donated by The Cauldron by the Sea. Scented apothecary products hand-blended with ritual care — small-batch and magical.

• 🍯 Jar of Local Honey
→ From Hobbee’s Honey. A sweet gift from Melissa Hobbs’ own bees — raw, natural, and perfect on fresh figs.

💥 More prizes to be announced soon!

☕ Plus: The first 50 guests will receive a free pour-over fig coffee bag from FigBrew — a smooth, antioxidant-rich roasted fig beverage with no caffeine crash.

🍇 Fresh-Picked Arapaho Blackberries
Sweet, Early, and Easy to Love

✨ This week’s harvest is all about Arapaho—an elite, early-season blackberry variety developed by the University of Arkansas. These berries are absolutely thriving in our field conditions, and here's why they stand out:

▣ Lower seed count → Much smoother, less bitter, and far more pleasant than typical blackberries
▣ Medium to large berry size → Plump, glossy, and firm with a juicy bite
▣ Thornless canes → A dream to harvest, and a sign of thoughtful breeding
▣ Classic blackberry flavor → Rich, sweet, and balanced, without the brash bite of wild types
▣ Extra early ripening → One of the first varieties to produce, giving you a taste of summer before everyone else

🌱 Raised with Beyond Organic methods—no sprays, no synthetic fertilizers, no compromises. Just deep mulch, animal-based compost, and careful stewardship grounded in permaculture's three ethics:

☀️ Earth Care • 👨‍👩‍👦 People Care • ⚖️ Return of Surplus

🛒 Find them this weekend:
📍 New Bern Farmers Market
421 S Front St, New Bern, NC
🕗 Saturdays, 8 AM–2 PM

🌿 Quantities are limited—these early berries don’t wait around. Come early or miss out!

🔥 The Pepper Trials of Forest of Eden 🔥
Wednesday, May 21 | 1PM–3PM
📍 Forest of Eden Farm & Nursery – 1665 Rabbit Ln, Grimesland, NC

🌶️ Welcome to the Flavor Pantheon
This Wednesday, the most charismatic peppers on the planet are gathering in one place — and they’re bringing heat, culture, and culinary wizardry with them. These are not grocery store genetics. These are global treasures, battle-tested in kitchens and home gardens alike.
🧪 Limited quantities. No holds. Just heat.

🌍 Seven Peppers. Six Nations. One Garden.
🇵🇪 Aji Amarillo – The crown jewel of Peruvian cuisine. Thick-walled, glowing gold, and kissed with tropical mango flavor. Bright heat, smooth finish.
💰 Sale Price: $6 (Regular $10)

🇵🇪 Aji Charapita – Wild, rare, and absurdly tiny. These marble-sized bombs deliver a sharp, citrusy sting — and they're nearly impossible to find fresh in the U.S.
💰 Sale Price: $6

🇰🇷 Gochujang King Hybrid – Long, red, and bred for fermentation. This Korean stunner is your first step toward homemade gochujang, kimchi, or hot sauce. High yield, bold flavor.
💰 Sale Price: $6

🇭🇺 Ajvarski – From the heart of the Balkans. This sweet, fragrant red roasting pepper is made for flame. Smoky, buttery, and ideal for making traditional ajvar spread.
💰 Sale Price: $6

🇮🇹 Jimmy Nardello’s – The Italian heirloom that eats like candy. Sweet, juicy, and wrinkled like an old Sicilian love story. Grill it, sauté it, or eat it raw off the plant.
💰 Sale Price: $6

🇯🇵 Shish*to – Flash-fry it and see what happens. 1 in 10 brings the heat. The rest are a burst of grassy, umami flavor. A culinary roulette you’ll want to play every day.
💰 Sale Price: $6

🇬🇧 Sugar Rush Peach – A newer variety from across the pond with tropical vibes and peach-colored skin. Sweet start. Spicy finish. Exceptional for fermenting and snacking.
💰 Sale Price: $6

🧠 Why These Peppers?
• ✨ Capsaicin & Antioxidants – Powerful compounds shown to boost metabolism, reduce inflammation, and even improve mood.
• 🔥 Fermentation-Ready Varieties – Gochujang, Aji Amarillo, and Sugar Rush Peach are ideal for hot sauces and traditional pastes.
• 🧬 Open-pollinated & rare hybrids – You're not growing supermarket clones. You're building a living archive.

🍅 Supporting Cast (But Still Show-Stoppers)
🍅 San Marzano – The pasta tomato of Naples. Dense, low-acid, and sacred in sauce.
🍅 Sun Gold – Cherry-sized and dangerously sweet. Garden candy with high yield.
🍅 Tropical Sunset – Peach-yellow slicing tomato with floral notes.
🍅 Trip-L Crop – North Carolina’s own heirloom giant. Juicy and reliable.
💰 Each tomato plant: $4 (Regular $8)

🥬 Fresh Mesclun Mix – Not a plant — this is produce, harvested fresh that morning. Lettuce, mustards, chicories. Peppery and clean.
💰 $4 per bag

🌱 Bonus Plants –
• Garlic Chives – $4
• Compost – $8/bag
• KNF Inputs – From $5
• 🔐 FFJ (Fermented Fruit Juice) – Ask about the secret menu if you know what you're doing.

You’ve been warned.
This is a capsaicin collection event disguised as a plant sale.
Your garden is about to earn its passport.

Bring cash. Bring curiosity. Bring your heat tolerance.

🍅🔥🌿 Forest of Eden FINAL Plant Sale – May 21 🌿🔥🍅

📍 1665 Rabbit Ln, Grimesland, NC
⏰ One Day Only. First come, first picked.
✨ Tomatoes Worth Starting a Cult Over

Some tomatoes were made for slicing. Others were made for war.

🗡️ San Marzano was bred in the volcanic soils of Southern Italy—not to play nice, but to dominate sauce pots for centuries. This heirloom is thick-walled, low-seed, and umami-rich. Not juicy. Just pure power.

🍯 Sun Gold is pure mischief. A golden cherry tomato that tastes like candy had a photosynthesis-fueled baby with a summer breeze. High Brix readings, low acidity, and a flavor so bright it borders on criminal.

🌅 Tropical Sunset looks like it was painted by a rainforest monk—yellow-gold, swirled with blush and flame. Slightly floral. Soft. Rare. Like the end of a dream you didn’t want to wake from.

🏰 Trip-L Crop is a tower-builder. Vigorous, indeterminate, and absurdly productive—its vines climb and climb, stacking fruits like architectural ambition made edible. If you're growing for yield, this is the tomato to trust.

💸 All tomato starts: $8 each — 50% off on 5/21 only — just $4 each!

🥬 Fresh from the Field: Mesclun Mix
Not a plant. Not a label. This is real-deal, harvested mesclun—picked fresh from our raised beds, hand-washed, and bagged with care. A balanced mix of baby greens, peppery mustards, and tender lettuces that actually taste like something. Perfect for salads that don’t need dressing to shine.

🥗 $4 per bag — Limited quantity. Goes fast.

🔥 Spotlight Selections
🌶️ Jimmy Nardello’s Sweet Italian Pepper – Sweet as a fairytale ending, but rooted in Calabrian earth. Long, wrinkled, firetruck red, and better roasted than reason would allow.
$10 each — 40% off sale: $6 per plant

🌶️ Aji Amarillo – The pride of Peru. Fruity, bold, and hot—but with a citrusy lilt that turns stews into spells. You don’t just cook with it, you invoke it.
$10 → $6

🌶️ Gochujang Pepper – Korean heritage heat. Thin, spicy-sweet, and destined for fermentation. Make your own gochujang paste or dry them for flakes. Fermentation nerds, rejoice.
$10 → $6

🍆 Long Purple Eggplant – Sleek. Productive. Melts on the grill. A Mediterranean essential with texture that holds and bitterness that doesn’t.
$7 → $4

🌱 Fertility Arsenal
💩 Blended Compost – A microbial bomb made from cow, chicken, rabbit, worm, and mushroom compost. Balanced for fast and slow nutrient release.
$3 per gallon

💧 Genesis Fertilizers
• Brandon’s Blend – Fermented urine, fish, and brown sugar. Smells like betrayal. Feeds like a miracle.
• Secret Menu: Fermented Fruit Juice (FFJ) – Ask quietly. Wink twice. Hormone-rich, foliar-friendly. KNF-inspired.
• Rabbit Manure: They call it "Gardener's Gold" for a good reason.

🧬 Real Numbers. Real Results.
🍅 San Marzano: Low-moisture flesh with high lycopene and minimal seeds = elite sauce performance.
🍅 Sun Gold: Brix rating above 9. Disease-resistant. Indeterminate. Grows like it means it.
🍅 Trip-L Crop: Tested yields over 100 fruit per vine. Practically an edible skyscraper.
🍅 Tropical Sunset: Beta-carotene rich. Heat-tolerant. Soft-skinned but sun-strong.
