The nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine USS Idaho (SSN 799) returned to the on Mon. September 28th, following a four-month deployment to the U.S. European Command area of responsibility. Idaho and crew operate under Submarine Squadron (SUBRON) 4, whose primary mission is to provide attack submarines that are ready, prepared, and committed to meet the unique challenges of undersea combat and deployed operations in unforgiving environments across the globe.

The Freedom-class littoral combat ship USS Wichita (LCS 13) passes New London Ledge Lighthouse and transits the Thames River headed to the , on Aug. 31, 2026. Wichita is homeported at Naval Station Mayport in Mayport, Fla., and is the third Naval ship to be named after the largest city in Kansas.

The Los Angeles class fast attack submarine USS Albany (SSN 753) makes its way up the Thames River and past the city of New London on Thursday, July 2, 2026 returning to Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn. Albany, the fifth U.S. Navy ship to be named for the capital city of New York, recently underwent regularly scheduled maintenance while at Submarine Base New London.

Cmdr. Burnes Brown turned over command of the Virginia class attack submarine to Cmdr. Daniel Goodwin in a traditional change of command ceremony that was held on Tuesday, June 30th onboard the boat at Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn.
