(Charlotte, North Carolina – January 22, 2024) – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released the pre-season division two softball rankings today. The Fort Scott Community College (FSCC) Lady Hounds were included in the listings as receiving votes in the first official poll of the 2024 season.

“What an exciting time for our past, present, and future players of FSCC softball,” stated Kae Lani Bryan, head softball coach. “We are looking forward to the 2024 season and have an amazing group of student athletes on hand that represent our program and college at a high level,” Bryan added.

The FSCC Lady Hounds earned a spot in post season play in 2023. The team recorded the second highest wins in school history and finished the semester with an impressive team grade point average (GPA) of 3.64.

Bryan, entering her sixth season at the helm of FSCC softball, credits a strong sophomore class that has helped the team get off to a great start this semester. “Having twelve girls back that have experience in our conference will help set us apart as we go to work this spring. We’ve added some additional pieces to the puzzle by bringing in four transfers that will be extremely impactful. The respect given to this team by the votes recorded in this early poll tells a story and we are excited for the future of this group,” Bryan stated.

“It is the culture of FSCC softball that separates us from the rest. We take a lot of pride in being great people on and off the field. We want to help grow our student-athletes to become strong independent leaders that will be successful in their careers and life.”

The Lady Hounds kick-off the season on February 12, 2024, as they host Oklahoma Wesleyan JV.
