Twenty-five years ago today, 2,977 people were killed in terrorist attacks in New York City, at the Pentagon in Virginia, and aboard Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.
343 New York City firefighters. 72 law enforcement officers. Eight EMTs and paramedics. They ran into the towers and toward danger as everyone else ran out.
We think about them today, and their sacrifice. And we think about the police officers, firefighters and EMS crews in our own communities who answer the call every day.
To the first responders who never came home on 9/11, and to the ones still answering the call 25 years later: thank you.
