Starting a business doesn’t always begin with a big plan… sometimes it just starts with something fun.

In this episode, I’m talking with Emily from ShoreFizz about how what was meant to be a simple side project turned into a full business.

We get into how they got started, what it’s been like building something together, and how it’s grown into something much bigger than they originally expected.

If you’re a small business owner (or thinking about starting something), I think you’ll really enjoy this conversation.

The full episode is live now on all podcast platforms (The Social Sandbar) and YouTube.

Building a business in a beach town sounds fun… until you’re actually trying to figure out how to grow it.

In this episode, I’m talking with Tammilee of Gulf Coast Journeys about what it looks like to build a business in a coastal market… and how different it can be from what you expect.

We get into things like moving to a new area, figuring out your place in the market, and what actually works when it comes to marketing your business online.

If you’re a small business owner or trying to grow something of your own, I think you’ll really enjoy this conversation.

Today was a recording day for the Social Sandbar podcast, and I’m reminded again how many incredible business owners we have along the coast.

One of my favorite parts of these conversations is hearing what people have learned from actually running a business.

Not just the highlights… but the lessons along the way.

The number one thing I hear from business owners is:
“I never know what to post.”

When that happens, start with this simple question:
What do your customers ask you all the time?
Those questions are content.

You can turn them into:
• quick tips
• short videos
• educational posts
• behind-the-scenes explanations

If one customer is asking it, chances are other people are wondering the same thing.
And helpful content almost always performs better than promotional content.

The first episode of The Social Sandbar is officially live. 🌊🎙️

In episode one, I’m talking with Geni of g+k design studio about her business, how she got started, and the creative services she offers — from murals, selfie walls, and beach house signs to fun guided art experiences like sip and paints for locals and visitors.

This clip is just a preview — you can watch or listen to the full episode now on YouTube and wherever podcasts are available. https://www.youtube.com/

I recently launched a membership for small business owners who want help with their social media but don’t necessarily need a full marketing team.

It’s perfect for people who:
• know they should be posting more consistently
• want a clear strategy for what to share
• feel overwhelmed trying to figure it out on their own

Inside the membership, we focus on creating simple systems for marketing your business online so it doesn’t feel like a guessing game.

If you’re trying to grow your business and social media feels confusing or time-consuming, that’s exactly what it was designed to help with.

One of the biggest misconceptions about social media is that good marketing happens in the moment.

Most of the time, it doesn’t.

For most of my clients, we plan content ahead of time so we know exactly what we’re posting and why.

That usually includes:
• educational posts
• brand personality posts
• product or service highlights
• engagement posts

When you have a simple plan, social media stops feeling like something you have to scramble to keep up with.
And that’s usually when businesses start seeing better results.

Unpopular opinion…
Posting every single day is not the strategy most businesses need.

What actually matters is posting content people care about.

One helpful post a week will outperform seven random posts every time.

The businesses that grow on social media usually focus on things like:
• being helpful
• showing their personality
• answering questions their customers already have

Not just posting for the sake of posting.
Consistency matters.
But clarity matters more.

I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while.

There are so many incredible businesses along the coast, and every one of them has a story behind how it started, what they’ve learned, and what it actually takes to run a business.

So I’m launching a podcast called Social Sandbar.

It’s a place where I’ll be sitting down with local business owners to talk about:
• how they got started
• what they've learned along the way
• marketing, growth, and real-life business lessons
• the ups and downs that people don’t always see

Think of it like business conversations you’d have sitting around a table at a beach bar.

First episodes coming soon.

And if you’re a local business owner who might want to join me on the Social Sandbar, I’d love to connect.

If social media feels overwhelming, the problem usually isn’t the platform… it’s the lack of a simple plan.

If I were starting from scratch with a small business, I’d focus on these three types of posts every week:

1️⃣ A helpful tip
Teach your audience something useful related to what you do.

2️⃣ Behind the scenes
Show the process, the people, or the story behind the business.

3️⃣ A product or service highlight
Remind people what you actually offer.

That’s it.
You don’t need to post constantly.
You just need content that builds trust.
Simple always wins.

If you’re trying to figure out what to post consistently, this is exactly the kind of strategy we work through inside my membership.

If you're a small business owner trying to figure out social media… this is for you.

I recently created a membership designed specifically for business owners who want to handle their own marketing but need guidance and structure.

Inside the membership, we focus on things like:
✔️ What to actually post on social media
✔️ Creating a simple content plan
✔️ Growing an audience that becomes customers
✔️ Marketing strategies that work for small businesses
✔️ Staying consistent without spending hours online

You’ll also get access to:
• Content prompts and ideas
• Marketing resources and tools
• A supportive community of other business owners
• Monthly guidance to keep you on track

The goal is simple...help business owners feel confident and consistent with their marketing.
Because social media shouldn’t feel like a guessing game.
If you've been trying to figure all of this out on your own, this membership was built for you.
