🤔 "WHY SHOULD I EVEN VOTE? IT WON'T CHANGE ANYTHING FOR ME."

We hear this a lot. Here's the honest answer: 👇

Voting decides who controls the money that pays for your local hospital, your kid's school, and the roads you drive on every day. It decides whether your health insurance premium goes up or down. It decides whether a bridge gets fixed or a factory opens nearby. It's not abstract. It's your paycheck, your doctor's visit, your grocery bill. 💵

This year, two names on your ballot could change how those decisions get made for Harrison County: 🗳️

🔵 Scott Colom is running for U.S. Senate. As a local District Attorney, he's spent his career actually showing up in the community, not hiding from it.

🔵 Jeffrey Hulum III is running for U.S. House (MS-4). He served 22 years in the Army, six combat tours, and came home to serve Mississippi in the state legislature.

You don't have to know everything about politics to vote. You just have to know this: the people currently in these seats make decisions that hit your wallet, and this November, you get to say whether that continues. 💪

Nominate someone today

Nominations are now open for the Mississippi Business Journal’s 2026 Women in Business Awards!

The Mississippi Business Journal is seeking nominations for 25 outstanding women from across Mississippi whose leadership, professional accomplishments, and commitment to their communities are helping move our state forward.

Nominees may represent businesses and organizations of any size and virtually any profession or industry. We are looking for women who have distinguished themselves through professional achievement, leadership and influence, innovation, community involvement, mentorship, character, and the impact they have made on the people and organizations around them.

All nominees must be first-time honorees! Previously-named members of the MBJ's Top Women In Business class will not be accepted.

When submitting a nomination, be specific. Tell us not only why your nominee is an outstanding leader, but what she has accomplished, the challenges she has overcome, the people she has helped, and the lasting difference she has made.

Self-nominations are welcome. Multiple nominations of the same individual will not increase her chances of selection. Honorees will be chosen based on the quality and substance of each nomination.

All nominations must be received by Thursday, Sept. 24, at 5 p.m.

The 25 honorees will be recognized at the Mississippi Business Journal Women in Business Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Old Capitol Inn in Jackson and will be featured in the November edition of the Mississippi Business Journal.
