🗣🗣RS HUB Testing Starts Monday, January 14th
Now, this is still considered a "tentative" date - so it's not set in stone, it could change. I would say there is a good 85% chance however, that HUB Testing will start on Monday.
We believe it will start Monday, 1/14 and it will run until Thursday 1/17, at which time it may break for a few days, and it may start again on Tuesday 1/22 and run until Friday 1/25. Then official e-file opens on 1/28, and all returns no matter what will be processed by the IRS.

Monday 1/14 running through Thursday 1/17, then STOP.

Tuesday 1/22 running through Friday 1/25, then STOP.

Monday 1/28 - Official E-File opens up.

What You Need to Know
Due to tax changes in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, many taxpayers’ withholding went down in early 2018, giving them more money in their paychecks in 2018.
You may receive a smaller refund - or even owe an unexpected tax bill – when you file your 2018 tax return next year, especially if you did not adjust your withholding after the withholding tables changed.Other changes that affect you and your family include increasing the standard deduction, suspending personal exemptions, increasing the child tax credit, adding a new credit for other dependents and limiting or discontinuing certain deductions.

What You Need to Do
Use the IRS Withholding Calculator to perform a Paycheck Checkup to help you decide if you need to adjust your withholding or make estimated or additional tax payments now.
Use your results from this Calculator to submit a new Form W-4, Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate, to your employer.
Make estimated or additional tax payments if the withholding from your salary, pension or other income doesn’t cover the 2018 income tax that you’ll owe for the year. Form 1040-ES, Estimated Tax for Individuals also has a worksheet to help you figure your estimated payments. all

IRS releases a draft of the new proposed tax form... smh. I suggest taxpayers to still use a professional tax preparer! It’s postcard size but what the President & the IRS didn’t tell you... you have to complete up to 6 worksheets & your State form! 👀👀👀🤔🤔
Smaller is not necessarily simpler. The new form omits a variety of popular deductions, including those for student loan interest and teaching supplies, forcing taxpayers to search for them — and tally them up — on one of six accompanying worksheets.https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/25/your-money/1040-income-tax-postcard.html

What taxpayers should know about amending a tax return.
IRS Tax Tip 2018-118, August 1, 2018

Taxpayers who discover they made a mistake on their tax returns after filing can file an amended tax return to correct it. This includes things like changing the filing status, and correcting income, credits or deductions.

Here are some tips for taxpayers who need to amend a tax return.

Complete and mail the paper Form 1040X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return. Taxpayers must file an amended return on paper whether they filed the original return on paper or electronically. Filers should mail the Form 1040X to the address listed in the form’s instructions. However, taxpayers filing Form 1040X in response to a notice received from the IRS, should mail it to the address shown on the notice.
If taxpayers used other IRS forms or schedules to make changes, they should attach those schedules to their Form 1040X.
Taxpayers should not amend a tax return to correct math errors; the IRS will make the math corrections for the taxpayers.
Taxpayers should also not amend if they forgot to include a required form or schedule. The IRS will mail a request about the missing item.
Anyone amending tax returns for more than one year will need a separate 1040X for each tax year. They should mail each tax year’s Form 1040X in separate envelopes.
Taxpayers should wait for the refund from their original tax return before filing an amended return. They can cash the refund check from the original return before receiving any additional refund.
Taxpayers filing an amended return because they owe more tax should file Form 1040X and pay the tax as soon as possible. This will limit interest and penalty charges.
Generally, to claim a refund, taxpayers must file a Form 1040X within three years from the date they timely filed their original tax return or within two years from the date the person pays the tax – usually April 15 – whichever is later.
Taxpayers can track the status of an amended return three weeks after mailing using “Where’s My Amended Return?” Processing can take up to 16 weeks.
