LinkedIn organic reach dropped roughly 50% in 2025.

I want to be honest with you about that number before I tell you what it means, because a lot of marketing people are going to use it to sell you something.

So here is the straightforward version.

The reach dropped because LinkedIn changed what it rewards.

It used to spread content based on your network.
Now it distributes based on your topic.

It watches what you consistently talk about, matches it against your profile and your history, and decides whether you are a credible voice on that subject.

Which means if you have been posting inconsistently about five different things, the platform does not know what to do with you.
And neither does the person who lands on your profile.

This is not bad news for people who do it right.
It is actually the argument for specificity that I have been making for years.
You do not need to reach thousands of people.

You need to reach the right hundred.

A focused, consistent presence on one or two topics will outperform scattered high-volume posting every time now.

The people who are going to win on LinkedIn in 2026 are the ones who know exactly what they stand for and say it consistently.

That is the whole game.

Here is what I hear from solo coaches all the time: the marketing is not hard exactly.

It is just constant.
It sits in the background of every week, taking up mental space they would rather give to their clients.

Some coaches want to get better at it.
Learn the system, do it faster, do it right.
Some coaches want to stop doing it entirely.

Instagram does not show your posts to your followers first anymore.

It uses an audition system.
Your post gets shown to a small group of non-followers first.
If it performs, it goes to a wider group.
If it performs again, it goes further.

That is a significant shift for solo service providers who have been treating Instagram like a broadcast channel aimed at people who already follow them.

Here is what it means practically.

Reels are pushed to new audiences through the Explore page and the Reels tab, which makes them one of the strongest tools for reaching people who have never heard of you.

Feed posts mostly reach people who already follow you.

If your goal is to bring new clients into your world, those are two very different tools with two very different jobs.

The other thing worth knowing: content that feels genuinely human is standing out more than ever.

People who lean into raw, first-person perspectives are outperforming those chasing production polish.

You do not need a studio.
You do not need a video editor.
You need to be specific, consistent, and actually yourself on camera.

That is something any small business owner can do.

Someone looked you up this week.
They found your profile, skimmed it in about 20 seconds, and left.

Not because they were not interested.

Because nothing on the page gave them a reason to stay.

The problem is not your credentials.
You have those.

The problem is your profile reads like a resume and performs like one.
A resume is a record of what you did.

A LinkedIn profile, if it is built correctly, is a reason for the right person to reach out.
Those are two different documents.

Most people have written the first one and called it done.
If someone looked you up today, would they find a reason to message you?

Why your content isn’t working (and it’s not the algorithm’s fault).

Let’s rip the Band-Aid off.

If your content isn’t performing, the algorithm probably isn’t the issue.

You are.
Gasp.

I know, it stings. But hear me out.

You can’t keep posting the same tired content, expecting different results, and blaming the algorithm like it’s your evil ex.

That’s not strategy. That’s self-sabotage.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐦 𝐈𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧

It’s not sitting in a dark room plotting your downfall.

It’s not targeting your account.
It’s not punishing your reel.

It’s showing people what they actually engage with.

So if your content isn’t landing… it’s because people scrolled past it. Period.

The algorithm didn’t bury your post.
Your audience just didn’t bite.

Ask yourself why.

𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 = 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬

If your last 12 posts look and sound the same.
If you’re recycling trends from 3 weeks ago.
If you’re doing what everyone else is doing, but with your logo slapped on it.

That’s not creating. That’s copy/paste with fingers crossed.

At QVC, we learned this fast.
Your job while selling product on air to miilions of households:
Engage the customer
Enrich the customer
Entertain the customer

If that didn’t happen?
The phones didn’t ring. Sales didn’t happen.

That principle hasn’t changed.
It just moved to Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐤𝐞-𝐔𝐩 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥

The algorithm isn’t sabotaging your content.
You are.

If your post doesn’t make someone pause, think, laugh, feel, learn, or share… why would it get pushed?

The algorithm is doing its job.

𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮?

Before you cry “shadowban!”, rewatch your post and ask:

Would I stop scrolling for this?

If it’s bland, basic, or boring, own it.
Then do better.

Create with purpose, not panic.

And maybe whisper to yourself:

“𝑰’𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒎. 𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒎𝒆.”

Now go make content that deserves to be seen.

Start by choosing your “neighborhood.”

You don’t need to be on every platform. You just need to be intentional about where you invest your energy.

Ask yourself:
Where does your audience spend their time?
Where do you feel comfortable and excited to show up?
Which platform aligns with your message and style?

Strategy starts with clarity, not complexity.
When you know the platform that feels like “home,” showing up becomes more joyful, and more sustainable.
