As Black Friday and Cyber Monday are likely the biggest sales events of the year, shoppers will be looking for deals. Consider adding a discount or special offer.

Amazon sellers have three options: Coupons, Lightning Deals, and 7-Day Deals.

You can offer two different types of Coupons as a seller: 1) an offer that gives customers a set percentage off of their purchase, or 2) an offer that gives customers a set dollar amount off of their purchase.

Lightning Deals are available for a limited time to shoppers. Sellers set what the discount will be and how long the deal will run.

7-Day Deals are featured for up to seven days and receive a “limited time deal” badge on the results page.

Selling in Europe provides opportunities to reach many countries from a single selling account, so you must understand how the European Union applies Value Added Tax (VAT) to online orders. Considering the EU implemented new changes to VAT on July 1, 2021, you must understand how they affect your business before the 4th quarter.

What is the value-added tax (VAT) in Europe?
The VAT is a consumption-based tax levied on the added value of goods and services. It covers almost all goods and services purchased and sold in the European Union for use or consumption. Therefore, goods sold for export or services to customers outside the EU are usually exempt from VAT. On the other hand, Imports are taxed to keep the system fair for EU producers, allowing them to compete on an equal footing with suppliers from outside the Union on the European market.

The VAT as a general tax applies to all commercial activities involving the production, distribution, and provision of goods and services. However, if your company’s annual turnover is less than a certain amount (the threshold), which varies by Member State, they are not required to charge VAT on their sales.

It is also a consumption tax because the final consumer bears the burden. It is not a tax on businesses; instead, it is charged as a percentage of the price from the buyer but paid to the revenue authorities by the seller of the goods, who is the "taxable person.”

What to Expect This Season
It may feel like summer just started, but fall is just a few months away and that means back-to-school shopping! What do people look for when they’re doing their fall shopping on Amazon? We reviewed the past three years of Amazon search data to get a sense of what back-to-school keywords might be popular this season.

METHODOLOGY
Our team analyzed US Amazon search data from 2018, 2019, and 2020. In 2018 and 2019 the rush for back-to-school items was in August, but in 2020, the majority of searches occurred in September. This change in search behavior may have been due to the pandemic delaying the start of the school year in many states.

For August 2018 and 2019 and for September 2020 we reviewed the top 500 rising keyword phrases (kwp risers). A top 500 “riser” is a keyword phrase that increased its rank among the top 500 keywords on Amazon from the previous month to the current month. If a keyword was in the top “risers” for the three consecutive years (August 2018, August 2019, and September 2020), then we get the sense that this term is consistently popular during the back-to-school season.

HOLIDAY REQUIREMENTS FOR AMAZON TOYS & GAMES SELLERS

Are you planning to sell toys on Amazon this holiday season? To provide the highest level of customer service and quality fulfillment, Amazon has announced special holiday guidelines for those selling in the Toys and Games category from October 17, 2018, through the first week of January 2019.

Here are Amazon’s requirements:
Your first sale on Amazon must be before August 18, 2018, and need not be specific to the Toys and Games store.

You must have processed and shipped at least 25 orders from August 1 through October 1, 2018. The orders do not need to be specific to the Toys and Games store.

Your pre-fulfillment cancel rate must be no higher than 1.75% from September 1 through September 30.

Your late shipment rate must be no higher than 4% from September 1 through September 30.

Your order defect rate must be no higher than 1% short-term as of October 1 for the current year.

If you sell in multiple Amazon marketplaces, your eligibility will be determined separately for each marketplace using metrics above.

Sellers will be notified by October 17 if they have been approved to sell in the Toys & Games category. However, approval does not give you a free pass. Amazon will monitor metrics throughout the holiday season and if you fail to perform, Amazon can cancel your listing, remove your ability to sell, or prohibit you from selling specific products.
