I recently read The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. What a great book! It’s about waking up early and starting your day with a routine structured to improve your life and allow you to achieve all of your dreams and goals.
He talks about how to incorporate his 6 Life S.A.V.E.R.S. into your morning and how they can transform your life.
Now, I have never been a morning person. I’m the guy who wakes up just in enough time to shower and get out the door to not be late for work. And on the weekends, I sleep in until ten or eleven o’clock.
After reading his book, I was inspired to take Hal’s 30 day challenge implementing his process. I’m on day 15 and getting up is getting a little easier.
This is actually addressed in one of the chapters titled, From Unbearable to Unstoppable. It talks about how you need to push through those difficult initial days where you are developing the habit of getting up early, so that you can reap the rewards of having established a great new habit that makes you more successful.
I’ll admit that I’m only doing three of the six practices right now. The important thing is that I am developing the habit of getting up at 5:30 every morning to start my day.
I have noticed that I have more energy in the mornings and I’m getting more things accomplished every day.
The main theme of this book is “Mindset”. With the right mindset you can achieve any goal you set for yourself!

Well, I finally made it back up to Markswood this past weekend.

It wasn’t a total pleasure trip though. Ended up doing maintenance on my tractor and cutting some firewood getting ready for the fall and hunting season.

But I did find time to relax and have good conversations with my buddy Chris. We had a few drinks and talked about the upcoming hunting season.

We also discussed planning a large game hunt out west in a couple of years. Possibly an Elk hunt in Colorado. We decided we would do a self-guided hunt which takes a lot of research and planning. Hence the couple of years time frame.

That’s all for now.

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. I sure did. My original plan was to go to Markswood, but I found out that...

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. I sure did.

My original plan was to go to Markswood, but I found out that some of my relatives were going to be in town for the weekend, so I decided to stay home.

I ended up going golfing on Saturday with my brother and nephew. It was a gorgeous day, temperature was in in the high 70s with a beautiful clear sky. I didn’t do very well, but it didn’t matter, I enjoyed spending time with family.

My nephew outshot us all, even though he was playing in cowboy boots!

In our defense my brother and I have never had golfing lessons. My nephew attended Nike Golf Camp a couple of years when he was in high school.

Then on Sunday we went to a family gathering on my wife’s side at her brother’s house. The kids enjoyed the pool while the grown-ups reminisced about days gone past.

All in all it was good times!

Would love to hear about your weekend, please comment or post.

When was the last time you took a vacation? Wasn’t it a hassle arranging it with your employer? I hate trying to find someone I trust to cover for me at the office.

It’s even worse returning from leave and having to play catch up. Email backed up, phone messages to return. Sometimes I feel it wasn’t worth taking leave to start with. The stress almost immediately returns and is more intense than before you left.

The whole idea of a vacation is to take time to relax doing leisure type activities to reduce your stress. But what’s the point if when you return you feel worse off than when you left?

The woes of working a corporate job…

At least having the time off enjoying family is worth it.

Dreams and Goals – Part 2

In order to attain your Dreams you need to set and achieve Goals.

Like most people, I set my goals low that kept me in my comfort zone. But I learned highly successful people set their goals high and do whatever it takes to achieve them. And even if they fall short, they are better off then if they achieved low goals.

I went to college, got my engineering degree, then a job making decent money. I always thought that keeping my head down working hard and saving with my 401K would be adequate to retire with enough money to keep me happy in my retirement years.

I thought $1 million dollars in my 401K would be enough to retire on and do whatever I wanted, so that is where I set one of my goals.

However today that won’t get you very far. Especially since we live longer in retirement then previous generations.

The closer I get to retirement the more terrified I become that $1 million won’t be enough for my wife and I to do things we want.
So I knew I had to change the way I approached life. I had to find a better way to work smarter not harder to make more money in order to achieve my dreams.

That’s when I decided to become an entrepreneur in affiliate marketing.

I did some research and found that a lot of millionaires started out as affiliate marketers. Learning the kind of income affiliate marketers can make caused me to refocus my life.

I recently reset my goal to have a net worth of $10 million dollars before I retire and I am committed to reaching that goal.

Dreams and Goals – Part 1

What is life without dreams?

Dreams of your perfect life where you are financially secure and have all of the time in the world to pursue your passions and have joy in every day of your life.

Live in your dream house

Bond with great friends who share your passions

Driving your favorite car

IMAGINE NOT HAVING ANY DREAMS!!!

What would the purpose of life be?
What would drive you to get out of bed in the morning?
Probably nothing.

As humans, we are hard wired to want a better life for ourselves and our loved ones.

Here are a few of my dreams:

Living in a log cabin on a hillside overlooking a river.

Visiting all of the big national parks.

Going on big game hunting expeditions all across the country.

Owning 1000+ acres to roam and ride ATVs.

Whatever your dreams are they can be achievable if you set your goals right and pursue them with the tenacity to accomplish them.

I invite you to comment and share some of your dreams.

P.S. Be sure to catch Part 2 in my next post on goals.

I recently read a book called Secrets of a Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker. The book talks about how we are all trained from childhood about how we perceive money. And most of us, me included, have negative connotations associated with money and how hard it is to come by. This is the reason why most people who come into wealth often lose it fairly quickly. Well the book goes on to tell about how rich people think differently about money that is why they are able to accumulate so much of it and are able to keep it. It was a fascinating read. I highly recommend it.

As I mentioned before, I enjoy creating things with my own hands. Well, I had a secluded area in my backyard that I didn’t utilize very well and wanted to do something that made the area more attractive. So I decided to turn it into a quite relaxing area where I could just sit and relax. There I created a pond with two waterfalls to listen to the tranquil sound of running water. I built a bench and stocked the pond with six coy fish so I could just relax, watch the fish and listen to the running water. See the pictures below.

Unfortunately my time is up, heading home tomorrow. Today is rest and pack day. Spending the day relaxing with the grandkids at home taking in every precious moment before I have to leave. It's always hard saying goodbye.
