The Peoria County Surveyor's Office filed the original plat for Hanna City this day in 1882. Hanna City was named after William Hanna, president of the Peoria-Farmington Railroad that ran parallel to the village.
After coal was discovered, the coal mining industry became a major economic driver for the community.
This plat is in the Peoria County Clerk's Office land records, available online.
