How to use social media for success:
- Know who your ideal, good, and secondary clients/supporters or voters are
- Make sure you are targeting your audience with what they are already seeking
- Be relatable to the core audience
- Be informative AND entertaining
- Be relevant to FELT needs
- Offer solutions that work
- Offer a good cost versus benefit
- Be consistent over time with posting, quality, and accuracy as well as style and branding
- Share from others, not just yourself
- Don't act like all competitors are useless or bad and don't be afraid to be magnanimous
- Don't be parochial, in other words don't always be angling for the sale!
- BE DIFFERENT, but not for the sake of being different, try and find angles less used by others
- Be missional: if what you sell isn't a passion and if you won't or can't give some away for free, then don't use social media
- Be REAL: Like comments, reply to comments, praise good comments, answer questions, moderate your page, share from your audience with permission and credit
- Be honest and on time, don't make untrue claims or let promised deadlines pass unfulfilled
- Be repetitive: social media isn't a book, your audience changes and items scroll away, find new ways every week to drive home the same points
- Capture your audience OFF THE PLATFORMS in your own email funnel or die!
This takes time.
