How to use social media for success:

- Know who your ideal, good, and secondary clients/supporters or voters are

- Make sure you are targeting your audience with what they are already seeking

- Be relatable to the core audience

- Be informative AND entertaining

- Be relevant to FELT needs

- Offer solutions that work

- Offer a good cost versus benefit

- Be consistent over time with posting, quality, and accuracy as well as style and branding

- Share from others, not just yourself

The Upadarian Society of America (USA) will be a fraternal Christian society devoted to Christian self-reliance and empowerment, being a witness for Christ to the nations, and serving the needs of refugees which include Christians in crisis at home, persecuted Christians abroad, and other displaced persons.

The main theme of the Society will be acting together in common unity like an "intentional nation of people whose God is the Lord" based on freewill covenant association instead of race, ancestry, or political borders. The structure of the Society will be based on the concept of a Union of Popular and Democratic Regencies (a global "Crown Commmonwealth") as a non-territorial sovereignty. Peers will earn status and standing through a path of honor within a nobility not of birth but of pure merit.

The main platform for the Society will be a web 3.0 "cryptonation" with local private mesh networks connecting to the global platform using blockchain technology or quantum computing.

Local chapters will be based on the concepts of an extended multi-family household and a local fraternal community with distributed hubs to serve members, provide local ministry, and house refugees while providing a fraternal housing benefit to members through a mutual benefit corporation and public housing. These hubs will, as much as possible, utilized locally sustainable materials for building and renewable energy.

Regional missionary and refugee hubs around the world will be designed as self-sustaining, technologically autonomous communities with training, health, administrative, refugee support, missions, and member support facilities and will also act as model communities to the world at large.

The Society will endeavour to gain NGO and possibly alternative sovereignty status akin to the Vatican or the Knights of Malta and will have a global hub with the same status as Vatican City.

Within the US, and for other member Societies of the global Commonwealth within their countries, the Upadarian Society will lobby for domestic nation status and for lands and properties owned as hubs for its chapters to have status like unto Reservations for indigenous peoples.

The ultimate acheivement of these goals may be a multi-generational efffort, and the aim is to start with a web platform that evolves into a virtual to local Christian community that develops these other aspects of the whole vision as the amount of resources and size of membership grows.

The net effect will be a global "nation of people whose God is the Lord" which acts as a witness to the nations for Jesus and which is among the vanguard nations who lead to the emergence of a new Christian civilization and the ushering in of a new era for Christendom beyond mere politocracy and churchianity, which we call "the Kingom era of the Ecclesia."

I envision Upadaria as but one among many nations of people whose God is the Lord, but all based on the four core ideals of Christian civilization, namely Unity in diversity, Popular sovereignty, Democratic equality, and Rule of law as understood on a Biblical basis and as applied to a Christian lifestyle and governance discipline that harmonizes all four core ideals.

While Peerage in the Society will be limited to Christians, the virtual platform and even its local chapter groups will have memberships such as Guests, Refugees, eResidents, and eCitizens which are available to a broader cross-section of people who agree with a common civic standard called The Pledge of Common Unity, which is based on a non-sectarian application of the four core ideals. This is a concept called ""charter communities" that applies a different common standard in different areas that allows for rhe greatest inclusiveness of a diverse population while maintaining the sociocultural and economic autonomy of different types of communities within a pluralistic society.

The Society will work not only in its core areas but to confront and expose all forms of bigotry, especially racism and jingoism, and to promote sustainable technologies and architecture as well as local food, energy, and health "sovereignty" both for the good of human beings and the overall health of God's Creation.

It is a big vision both in terms of its impact and power of liberation for individuals and its global scope, as in it seeks to draw in members from every nationally and ethnicity and to operate chapters and mission/refugee hubs all over the world in their hundreds and thousands.

This vision can begin even on the simple basis of an online community that takes a virtual to local approach and provides training and resources for people to use the core Christian lifestyle and governance discipline. Through this you can become an effective witness for Jesus to the nations, find and fulfill God's best for your life with excellence, and make your calling your career through the mutual support and accountability of your peers.

Why we hate it

We work on political camapigns. There is a term often used: voter universe.

To make a long story short, it's basically a list of people, and their contact information, who are mostly likely to vote, donate, or volunteer. You take that list and import to something like Facebook's ad management system, or Google's AdWords. If it's people inspired by pro-life issues who are likely to donate, well, you custom tailor ads to them.

Once you put in the emails by list type, and lable that list, the platform attempts to find its users who use those emails and serve them the relevant ads.

It's really not rocket science. It's simple: you have a "universe" of special audiences who you know with some certainty will vote, donate, or volunteer . It's targeted marketing.

But we don't much like the terms used. A voter universe is a list or lists of people organized by various factors who you target with specialized ads. It's people you want to seek out to vote, donate, or volunteer.

Let's repeat that.

It's people.

When we use terms that transform whole groups of people into sone amorphous blob, we run the risk of forgetting what the real deal is. The real deal is reaching and mobilizing real people.

Being on someone else's platform might make you seem famous. Having access to rich, famous, or powerful people might make you popular. You can trade your postion on the platform or access to the rich, powerful, and famous, but it isn't your platform and those aren't your followers.

To have influence and standing, you need your own platform (that you own) and your own following. Failing to do this, if or when the platform owner or the roch, powerful, and famous person is done with you, or if you displease them, then you lose all standing and influence.

I have advised politicians and business people along these lines for a long time. But the work of building a platform and a movement or following (or client base) of your own is not easy, therefore the advice is not often taken. Almost always this ends in regrets as these people find that without someone else's platform or without access, they themselves have no support.

I would also add: if you are building a core of loyal suporters and allies, always take them with you when you rise and do what you can to share the wealth with them. Why? Because their support may be needed during hard times, and if you have not taken them with you or shared the wealth, you wil find they don't need you, their fate is not tied to you, and they will develop parochial interests that diverge from those interests you once shared.

I have seen this a lot. When you witness a formerly influential person suddenly fall, you can be sure there were three causes:

They didn't have their own platform

They didn't have their own following

They didn't nurture and care for their core supporters

Whenever you stand on someone else's platform and have access to rich or powerful people, at the very least bring your core people with you, share the wealth, so that you always have a base of support in whatever you do. Start then from that base and build your own platform and following.

If you ignore this advice, then you stand on an unstable foundation and your future is uncertain.

EXPECT NO SUPPORT FROM YOUR FACEBOOK FRIENDS

Important note: this is meant to share wisdom with people who are trying to garner support, the gist is you need a bigger network to reach then people who know you!

I post things here seeking support, in lots of ways. I actually rely on other means to pitch appeals for support, and people who I can call on the phone.

Mostly, I just like gauge things and get feedback, I have no illusions. Almost every, if not every, appeal for REAL help of support on facebook will not be answered.

If you are doing a project or asking for financial support for a project, or even for yourself, your "Facebook friends" are mostly useless UNLESS you are a star or someone who gets on TV, in which case people are more likely to response, even with money, to be part of whatever it is you are or represent to them, even if it is just a desire to "touch fame."

So, if you see me posting here about project or pitching something I am raising financial support for, don't think this is my only forum, in fact, I literally have no expectations. People are mostly in transmit mode, and mostly won't support people they KNOW, they seem to prefer to invest their time and energy into people they don't know.

When I do sell things or get financial support for ideas, so far, it has never, even come from a Facebook post, unless it was a paid ad to strangers.

I share this for your edification- if you want to sell an idea, or a product, do not think that a lack of response from your Facebook friends means anything one way of another. You have to promote your ideas to strangers, in some volume, before you can see if it is a good idea or not.

I do try to support people, I buy their books, I donate to their causes, because that is my belief: you should support people you know first. I know that is not really how it works, so I push my ideas mostly to strangers, and I share them here just to see if I get feedback or insights, which occasionally happens.

If you are selling something, if you are recruiting to a cause, or if you need financial support for a project, share it with your Facebook friends, get feedback, but always remember- most people support strangers first and people they know, never. it is not that they are bad people, it's just how it is.
