I see this all the time:
Someone runs ads. Gets clicks.
Zero sales. Then blames the audience.

“Facebook sent me the wrong people.” “These leads are trash.” “Nobody wants to buy.”

But here’s what actually happened:
You showed a conversion ad to someone who saw you for the first time 6 hours ago.

They clicked because they were curious. Not because they were ready to buy.

You can’t expect someone who just learned your name to immediately trust you with their credit card. That’s not how humans work.

But most brands treat every person like they’re one click away from converting. So they show the same “Buy Now” ad to someone who’s seen them once as they do to someone who’s been engaging for weeks.

That’s not an audience problem. That’s a sequencing problem.

If your ads aren’t converting, ask yourself:
How many times has this person seen me before?
Do they actually understand what I sell?
Have I given them any reason to trust me?

If the answer is “maybe once,” “not really,” and “no”—then yeah, they’re not going to buy.

I stopped chasing after clients this year. Here’s what actually happened…

When I first started my agency, I thought growth meant volume.

More clients.
More revenue.
More yeses.

If someone “needed marketing,” I could make it work.

But what I really built was:

– Discounted retainers
– Blurry scope
– Reactive work
– Constant context switching

I was busy… but I wasn’t scaling.

The turning point?

I realized I didn’t need more leads.
I needed clarity.

Clarity on:
• Who we’re built to serve
• The level we operate at
• The standards we uphold

So I tightened everything…
especially positioning and boundaries.

I stopped:
– Discounting to close
– Pitching everyone
– Over-explaining my value
– Saying yes to “almost” fits

Was it uncomfortable? Yes.
Does it still stretch me sometimes? Also yes.

But here’s what happened over time:

• Fewer discovery calls
• Higher close rates
• Bigger retainers
• Stronger client relationships
• Better margins
• Fewer fires
• More time back

Less noise. More leverage.

The biggest shift wasn’t revenue.

It was working with aligned clients who build with you…
not drain you.

Everyone's scared AI will replace creatives.

But here's what I've learned running a marketing agency:

AI can produce output.
It can't originate perspective.

It can write words.
It can't tell you which words will actually land.

It can generate 10 headline options.
It can't feel why option 7 is the one that'll stop someone mid-scroll.

Creativity isn't just making stuff. It's knowing what's worth making.

AI doesn't understand timing.
It doesn't get culture shifts.
It can't read a room or sense when something feels off.
It doesn't have taste.

Taste comes from lived experience. From mistakes. From absorbing culture, having conversations, noticing what resonates and what falls flat.

AI only works with past information. But creativity is about what's next, not what already happened.

That's the difference.

AI can help you move faster. It can handle the repetitive stuff. It can give you a starting point.
But it can't tell you what matters. It can't feel what's right. It doesn't have intuition or gut instinct.
