I recently finished this website I designed and created for the Hawaii Writers Guild.
When the Hawaii Writers Guild first reached out to me, they were very much in need of a new website. Their old website was outdated, hard to navigate, unorganized, had a lot of compounded information and wasn’t user friendly. Their mission as a group was strong but their website was lacking and it wasn’t representing them well.
I took on this project to create a new website that both inspires and empowers the HWG members when using it, while also educating the public on the organization. Acting as a resource for members, while remaining educational to the public.
Their old site had about 200 pages that I had to consolidate, organize, create new and redesign. All of this I did by scratch for the creation of their new site. Some of the features on their new site include: new member information and form applications for both regular and student memberships, a directory of the current members and individual author pages for each member including photos, a bio and published books or works they want to showcase, as well as a directory of writing genres and locations linking to each member. Their new site also includes resources for members, ways to get involved, a board of directors page, legal resources pertaining to the HWG, writing resources for members, writing support groups for members, recreation of past member newsletters, a donation page and so much more!
This was a pretty big project to take on but it has been an honor and a joy to work with the Hawaii Writers Guild for the creation of their new website. They are an inspiring group of writers and I’m honored to have created a new website that works for them and represents them well. This is just a snippet of the new website, stay tuned for part two where I will show some before and after photos!
