LETTER : TO THE SIERRA LEONE AMBASSADOR TO THE GAMBIA - Banjul
Subject: URGENT PLEA FOR HELP - Your Citizens (13 People: 8 Boys, 5 Girls) Have Been Locked in Cell for Over One Week and Are Suffering
His Excellency,
The Ambassador of Sierra Leone to The Gambia,
Your Excellency,
We write to you with broken hearts as your own sons and daughters.
We are 13 Sierra Leoneans โ 8 boys and 5 girls โ who were prevented from traveling during a recent incident. After that, Gambian authorities locked us in a cell. For more than one week now, we are still inside, suffering every day and night.
Your Excellency, the condition is unbearable. We sleep on the bare floor, we have not eaten well, we have no medicine, and the place is very tight. The 5 girls are especially vulnerable and traumatized. We are begging for mercy.
We have no one else here except you, our father and representative. Please, we beg you:
1. Please send your staff to come and see us urgently.
2. Please speak to the Gambian authorities for our immediate release.
3. Please help us with food, medical help, and legal support.
We are scared for our lives and health. Please hear our cry. We are your people.
We are waiting for your urgent response, Sir.
Respectfully and desperately yours,
The 13 Detained Sierra Leoneans
8 Boys, 5 Girls
