There's nothing like bunkering down in the studio for a newborn session. Especially when the weather's been having a mental breakdown for the last couple weeks. 🤣

My newborn sessions are always baby-led, so don't let this precious boy fool you -- for most of his session he decided it was a good time to be awake. 🙃 And guess what? That's ok! We stopped for lots of milky breaks, got plenty of mommy snuggles, and worked quickly when we got the chance. Awake or asleep, this sweet boy can run away with my heart anytime. 💚🥰

Let’s talk about this unfortunate reality of outdoor sessions. Rain during a session is problematic for obvious reasons, but there’s other factors when considering a reschedule.

☔️If we’ve received a lot of rain, or several storms in a row, the environment will be over saturated. Back roads to locations become impassable, walking in and out of locations is muddy, kids struggle to stay clean (unless that’s the style of session you’re looking for😉) and some poses will be off limits to keep everyone clean and dry.

⛈️ If a storm is expected during, or even after our session time, we may get cut short simply due to lack of lighting. When those clouds roll in it can become dark in a hurry. Plus we may have to leave early for safety.

As a full time artist I pride myself on being able to offer clients weather reschedule options whenever appropriate. If you want to puddle jump - fantastic! I’ll grab my umbrella and rain boots. But if it’s not the vibe clients need flexibility.

We’ve had A LOT of weather lately, and reschedules have been frequent. While this is an important part of your service, it also means later parts of the year can become overfilled with sessions. If you’re considering a shoot this summer make sure to get on the schedule early!!
