When a patient searches for dentists, Google scores how well your page actually answers what they searched for. If your score isn't good enough, Google could create an alternative page for you, potentially without your branding or what makes your practice unique. This is all still speculation, but what they are looking for is extremely clear. They are still evaluating whether your website is doing its job for patients.
The good news is that practices with detailed and informative websites could perform very well. This means frequently asked questions and very detailed content. By doing this, you're not just protecting yourself from a potential Google feature, but you will be winning more patients now because that's what Google and patients want to see. If I was a dentist, this is exactly what I would do to start ranking higher.
Go to Google Search Console, hit performance, and press the blue button. It opens a new AI feature that shows you every keyword your website has shown up for.
Type in "show me queries with local intent" and apply what comes up. Then sort by highest impressions.
These are the most popular keywords Google is already showing your website for.
Now here's what to do with it. Look for keywords sitting between positions 3 and 30. Anything with "near me," like family dentist near me or root canal near me, gets its own dedicated page.
Because if you're not ranking high enough to get the click, you need to give these keywords more real estate on your site. Use them in your title. Use them in your headers. Build out full pages with before and afters, your process, what makes your practice different.
Every market has different search trends. Google Search Console gives you an exact look into how your website is already performing for yours.
