September 11.
That day is forever etched into the hearts of every American. So many of us can remember exactly where we were, what we were doing, the fear, the terror, and ultimately the dread and despair we felt as we learned that so many lives had been lost.
This morning, I said an extra prayer for every family affected by the events of September 11, 2001. I prayed for everyone who is still grieving and missing someone.
I am also remembering the America that emerged in the days that followed. In the midst of unimaginable pain, we showed up for one another. We cared for our neighbors. We grieved together. We found ways to see each other as people first.
We will never forget the lives lost that day.
May we also never forget our capacity to love one another, care for one another, and stand together, especially when the world feels divided.
We will never forget. π€
