Day 7 of 30 โ€” and something unexpected happened this morning.
I woke up at 3am, body feeling slow. Got on the mat anyway.
By the time I reached savasana... I felt my left glute touch the mat. Both sides. Evenly.

That doesn't sound like much. But for me โ€” someone who's carried almost all their weight on the right side since a back injury โ€” it was everything.

I sat up in thunderbolt pose and felt weight on BOTH sides. An unfamiliar feeling. Almost a surprise.

Sound familiar? ๐Ÿ‘‡

If you're a desk worker, think about how you sit right now โ€” in your chair, in your car, on the couch. Which side takes more weight?

That shift happens so gradually we stop noticing. But over time: one hip locks up. The inner thigh shortens. The pelvis tilts. We compensate. We walk with it.

Eventually we hurt.

Today's practice quietly started to undo some of that.

I felt fear in my hip at 4am. Here's what it taught me about chronic back pain.
3:30am wake up. 4:15am โ€” fear moving through my body during half frog pose. By 5am my lower back had more relief than it's had in weeks.
Here's what happened.
During half frog on my left side, I got a vision of myself as a child โ€” running away from something, not toward it. I didn't know what it was. I just breathed into it.
Right side? Both legs released at once. More intense. Same image.
I lay there in the pose and let it move through me. And my lower back opened up.
We hold issues in our tissues. Chronic back pain isn't always a structural problem. Sometimes it's stored emotion your body has been protecting you from โ€” until you're finally ready to feel it.
I'm not 100% sure how it works. I just know it does.
Still feeling a holding pattern in my left quad today. Still breathing through it.

Something unexpected happened in my morning stretch today.
I was in a forward fold โ€” 5 minutes, working with a block โ€” and I shifted my weight forward just a little. My left leg lit up and started releasing.
And then came the fear.
Not pain. Just this wave of emotion. That heart-racing, skin-crawling feeling that makes you want to bolt.
I almost did.
But I stayed. And I made the 5 minutes.
If you've ever felt suddenly anxious or emotional during a stretch โ€” especially in the hips, hamstrings, or glutes โ€” that's your nervous system releasing stored tension. It's not a warning sign. It's a green light.

This morning I woke up feelingโ€ฆ rested.

And for the first time in a while โ€”
my lower back didnโ€™t hurt.

But my inner thighs and quads did.

Old me would have thought:
โ€œSomethingโ€™s wrong.โ€

Now I know better.

This is what healing actually looks like.

When your body starts to rebalance, the stabilizer muscles wake up.
Theyโ€™ve been asleepโ€ฆ compensatingโ€ฆ protecting you.

And now theyโ€™re finally doing their job again.

That soreness?
Itโ€™s not injury.

Itโ€™s activation.

Today I completed Day 2 of my 30-day journey to reduce back pain by 50%.

I went back to the basics:

Healing doesnโ€™t come from pushing โ€” it comes from listening.

Iโ€™ve been a little off track lately.

I got sick this past weekโ€ฆ and if Iโ€™m honest, it was a clear sign I was doing too much.

So I did something different.

I slowed down.
I rested.
I listened to my body.

And something surprising happenedโ€ฆ

I started to feel better.

Not because I pushed harder.
But because I stopped forcing it.

This morning I noticed:

My lower back is tight
My IT band is tight

Instead of jumping into movement, I pausedโ€ฆ resetโ€ฆ and moved gently.

And it reminded me of something important:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Tightness isnโ€™t weakness
๐Ÿ‘‰ Pain is communication
๐Ÿ‘‰ Healing starts with the nervous system

Weโ€™ve been taught to push through discomfortโ€ฆ

But what if the real healing happens when we slow down?

When I slow downโ€ฆ my body speeds up healing.

Maybe your body isnโ€™t broken.

Maybe itโ€™s just asking you to listen.
