Fellow Solopreneures and Business Owners, go treat yourself to a pretzel the size of your face and a paloma today. You deserve it! 😉

There’s no doubt, being a solopreneur is full of peaks and valleys.

Some days I wake up ready to conquer all the things, and others I struggle to start on just one thing because I’m so overwhelmed with ideas, projects, emails, to-do lists, social functions and everyday life.

So, often it just seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day 😱
But hindsight is 20/20.

Looking back on some of the hard days, I can see now that I’m SO BLESSED.

I have to have not one, but two incomes - whatever stresses come with that are worth all the benefits!

I have to be sure and check myself 🤚 now and then with a reminder that I’m extremely fortunate.

Do I perform perfectly, heck no! But I strive for perfect and I’m always as close to it as possible without driving myself insane 🤯

I suspect that this is what almost every one else is feeling…

So, the point of all that was to say:
I see you and I’ve been there. Just keep doing all that you can and be sure to save time for whatever fills your tank back up (for me it’s carbs and quality time lol 🤗).

P.S. - “You can’t poor from an empty cup.”

It takes more time and creative energy than people think to go from extra-ordinary to extraordinary as a business!

The best way to break away from the ordinary and stand out in a sea of competition is through AUTHENTICITY (shocker 🤷🏽‍♀️), creating REAL RELATIONSHIPS and building a RESPECTABLE BRAND REPUTATION.

That reputation and relationship stuff is DEEPLY rooted in your brand and your brand should showcase your passion because passion is contagious!

📸 That was the goal when I planned for this brand shoot 📸 and most would be shocked how much planning went into this...

I had to ask myself, who am I as a consultant and what types of clients do I want to work with?

How should I style myself in a way that feels ME and “on brand” - but also relates to those folks I would like to work with?

How can I depict my passion through my brand shoot?

How can I make it timeless and adaptable so I don’t have to do this again until I can afford to!?

All of that was important to me because these “simple images” would have to represent all of those things!

These were my decision drivers:
- I want to portray that I’m professional but kind and easygoing
- I want to portray that my work is mobile and I’m always on call
- I want people to see that I’m friendly and relatable because I want clients who are easy to get along with
- I want my brand aesthetic and colors represented through cool colors and whites
- I want an outdoor downtown setting because that’s where my ideal clients work, play, and mingle

All of this played into planning this shoot and anytime you’re paying for brand-related services you should be thinking deeply about what it’s meant to represent!

It is the glue that holds your reputation together.

Brand “Touchpoints” is just a fancy marketing term for all the places that your brand interacts with your customers - online or in person.

I’m sure you know that these days, there are A LOT of places and ways to interact with your customers but it’s important that you always look like the same brand/business with the same face and goals across all of those touchpoints. This is called Brand Consistency and it’s important if you want to drive customer loyalty and trust.

Scenario: If a customer walks into your business and you’re laid back and unaggressive, you have candles burning and music playing and your brand colors are as cool and calm as is your demeanor… that customer is going to expect a similar experience when interacting with you online. They don’t want intrusive, the want calm and cool and laid back.

The “vibe” should still be the same and it should be consistent in every post, on every platform and in every email or text message. 👉🏻 Even if it’s an employee handling the interactions, not you.

Why? Because there’s an it-factor that’s tied to all those things that make doing business with you a pleasure and you should always deliver that same experience to your customers on all touchpoints so that their expectations lead them back to you time and time again.

But planning, strategy and finding more effective ways to equip your team with the tools they need to convey your brand in the right way is a game changer for those that are struggling with this.

If you need a one-sheet brand standards guide to give to your employees and keep on-hand or custom Canva templates to keep your brand aesthetic on lock 🔒 on social media, I would love to provide those and help you steal back some of your time and creative energy!

📥 DM me if you have any questions or need help with brand consistency!

Let me stick my nose all up in your business for a minute to present to you 🐶

😱 3 Personality Squashing Mistakes That I See Small Businesses Making Daily on Instagram😱

1. Being too “salesy” in the comments. Have a conversation with folks with no strings attached. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to “Always be selling.” In fact, by not selling, and investing in real interactions, you’re actually selling the idea that you’re a human worth connecting with and investing in 😏

2. Talking like someone you’re not. Or rather, talking like a robot. Some are actually already taking advantage of stories - those that are, sometimes leave themselves exposed to inconsistencies between their true self that’s seen talking in their stories and their ideal self that’s seen in their posts’ copy. It’s of course a good idea to find a balance that’s showcases your personality and your humor but leaves out jargon and slang that all may not understand. - Unless, of course your entire brand personality and community is built around the usage of that slag that ties you together.

3. Lack of storytelling/personal content. So many businesses, small-large, only post about their products, “promo offers” and “flash sales” and never post anything of substance that will actually tie them more deeply to their community. This means that your followers may never know you or goals, they won’t understand your business’s mission or the reason you love what you do.

🔑 It’s SO IMPORTANT to understand that everyday new online businesses and local businesses are going to keep trying to burst your bubble and steal the attention of your customers by offering “free shipping”, “lower prices”, etc, etc. 😕

💪🏼Your biggest advantage as a local business owner is to truly connect with your customers when you get the chance, virtually or in person, and to make sure that those interactions feel similar and genuine.💪🏼

Don’t let the reason that you’re losing sales be because you weren’t being yourself or because you were scared to put yourself out there…that’d be a shame.

Get on it guys 😉

This client’s logos are so unique and rugged. He’s launching his business soon and is one of my Brandstorming clients with a full brand development package.

We’ve been together every step of the way building out a brand he can be proud of and it has been SUCH a rewarding process!

He really wanted something rugged with an old school flare that would resonate with his customers and remind them of simpler times, hard work and meaningful relationships.

I think we nailed it 💪🏼🙌🏼

We still have a few aspects of his overall brand identity to wrap up before he launches so more to come!

Stay tuned 👏🏼

Branding can be broken down and simplified by humanizing it and that is something that so few branding professionals do.

Sure they tell you to think from your customers perspective when you make decisions about your branding.

But do they tell you to think about your brand as if it were you, a living and breathing person trying to connect to others and gain friends?? 🤔

What's funny is that, if you think about it, many of the elements that serve as a brand’s foundation are also characteristics that make up who a person is, who they associate with, and what they're known for.

You values, presentation, communication style, accent, life goals, etc… not all that different from what makes up a brand.

My goal 🤗 is to try to help my clients break down and build up their brand using a process that is easy to understand and gets them a result that they truly feel aligned with.

I also love to provide them with a brand guide 📋 to help them stay consistent and social templates (via Canva) that save them time and creative energy and meet their brand guide's standards.

Like I said, I think branding can sometimes feel like this overwhelming and complex or a “large lift" on your to-do list.

If you're looking for a branding partner who will make you feel good about your brand while making it all seem easy and rock solid, I'm here and would love to be that for you.

Shoot me a DM and we can start talking about what working with me looks like today!

You: I'm not sure what business name to go with 😩.

Idea A = easily undertood
Idea B = unique and catchy.

Me: (Your banding friend 😉)
Choosing between practical and unique is a common obstacle.

One that I'm intimately familiar with!

The key is (get ready, this is shocking) knowing your offering, and it's complexity and thinking about your ideal customer 👀...

Scenario 1: If you're like one of my current BrandStorming clients - Your products vary (alot) and so do your customer segments. You're also operating in an industry that's behind the times when it comes to trends and technology. For that reason, I would suggest that it's best to air on the side of clear and practical.

Scenario 2: If you were offering a single, specific service in a market that's tech savy and forward thinking, doing most of your business and sales online - you could go for something short, modern and unique!

No doubt, there's a lot that goes into chosing a name and no particular set of guidelines to follow. No magic bullet, per-say...

But these are important questions to help you shape up your ideas:

What would resonate with my customers?
- are they artsy/fun?
- are they down to earth/straightforward?
- are they tech savy/idependent?

How far out is too far out for them?

How specific is my service/product?

Is it easy to pronounce?

Is it available?

Is it timeless?

Does it limit my horizons if I choose to pivot or expand in future endevours?

All you and to be who are in the business formation stage and feeling a bit overwhelmed with forming your and , I'm here for you and I've been there!

Save this post and run through these questions later! 👈🏼

Guess who’s not going anywhere? Your competition.

Want loyalty? Then you have to have:
* Functional Benefits- a genuinely useful product/offer
* Emotional ties- a deep connection to your customer
* Delivery/Experience- A solid delivery method and user experience

So many entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, and business owners struggle to stand out in today’s over-saturated markets but don’t realize that ALL ROADS LEAD BACK TO BRAND.

Brand impacts every aspect of business... business idea, business communication, marketing, user experience.

The truth? There’s tons of great products and charismatic people eager to sell them out there today and the barrier to entering the market is going to keep getting lower as technology continues to advance.

MANY of those who are struggling to gain and keep their customers either won’t make time or truly don’t have time to evaluate what may be at the root of that dead connection between their offer/products/approach and their consumers.

But it’s SO important to acknowledge when things are headed south and really dig into why we’re not connecting and why our sales are drying up!!

This diagram 📊 is the very FIRST thing I tell branding clients to look at whether they’re building a business concept or improving an existing brand strategy.

I even show this to new social media management clients to help them understand the mindset they should have behind every. single. word. and post shared on social media.

🔒Lock down your brand and you’ll find your struggles to keep up with competition and feel good about your relationship with your customers will be a thing of the past!

It was such a pleasure to work with and develop her team’s brand identity and logo design!

What a privilege it was to work with her! Caitlin’s keen eye for art and style made it such a fun design process.

She is a realtor in who was starting a team and looking for a team name, logo, and social media graphics to represent them. As part of this process, I also helped her establish their brand colors and fonts.

I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out and I hope it serves her well in the years to come 🏠

Construction/Roman inspired mood board for one of my branding clients!

This client provides supply chain solutions to many industries but specializes in serving construction and industrial markets!

I always like to share a mood board with my branding clients after our initial discovery meeting in order to visually express what I’m envisioning for their brand aesthetic.

Excited to present this!
