I had a wonderful opportunity to work with and build a custom website for a recent client of mine, Kyle Ledman, who was several months into her virtual bookkeeping business. Kyle knew she needed a better website than her current generic WordPress template so I scheduled a phone consultation with her to hash out the details.

Kyle decided to niche down to bookkeeping for the fitness industry, which was a great move on her part since it allowed me to position her as an expert in her field on her website. When you focus on a specific industry or target audience, it is so much easier to get leads and clients!

The final product was a clean and crisp design with hints of teal and photos of the ocean to match her brand and company name (named after her daughter by the way!). Plus, I made sure her website would be easy for her to edit on her own in the future. As a bookkeeper, she didn't foresee having to update her website any time soon and I want my clients to be capable of editing their websites as needed. So to avoid her having to hire a web designer to make small changes, she is able to update her website when necessary.

The messaging for the website turned out great, too. By niching down and targeting fitness business owners, her website connects to people within this industry using phrases such as "save time and money", " stay out of the office", and "small businesses specializing in gyms, studios, dojos, and trainers."

As a client, Kyle was a joy to work with and I encourage you to give her a call if you think your business is up her alley.

If you'd like me to build you a website that suits your small business or would like a free consultation, just message me and we can hop on the phone!

I helped a client with their main homepage headline recently and wanted to share with local Hawaii business owners what they can do to improve theirs.

Most local businesses in Hawaii have the wrong kind of headline on their website. It's what I call the "welcome mat" headline. We see it all the time on newspapers and magazines and unfortunately, this has carried over to a lot of local website designs. Here's how you can analyze yours.

๐Ÿ‘‰Hawaii business owners: Do you have an email list? It's one of the best ways to bring in more money and have a supportive community behind your brand. Here's why๐Ÿ˜Ž

Building an email list is extremely important for businesses in Hawaii, especially if you're small and local. Small, local, family-owned...these are all businesses with personality and the brand is what makes you unique. Use it to connect with your audience so they remember and trust you.

๐ŸงI get questions all the time about sales funnels. It seems that many local Hawaii business owners have heard of them, but aren't sure exactly what they are and how they would benefit your local business. So I decided to write a quick post about sales funnels for Hawaii business owners - hope it helps! Let me know what you think and if you have any questions.โœŒ๏ธ

Sales funnels make local businesses more money. Unfortunately, I rarely see Hawaii small businesses utilizing sales funnels to their fullest potential. Here's a basic explanation of what a sales funnel is and why it's important in our unique culture.

I'm sure you've seen the WIX ads on YouTube. Here are the pros and cons of using WIX to build your Hawaii website.

WIX websites are very easy to use with their drag-and-drop builder. It can be a great option for anyone who wants a basic DIY website that doesn't need to be fancy. Here's a little insight from a Hawaii web designer about what you'll get out of them as a local Hawaii business owner.

๐Ÿ“งEver wonder why everyone has an email list? ๐Ÿ‘‡

Is it really just so you have a newsletter and can tell everyone when you have a new service, product, or wish them Happy Holidays every year?๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ‘๐Ÿฅ‚๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ†

The simple answer is yes. But it's so much more than a yes.

๐Ÿ’ฒThe more emails you have, the more money make.

A lot of small businesses in Hawaii don't have an email list ๐Ÿ˜ฑ which drives me skosh crazy. But it's ok, I can deal.

But imagine this...over the course of one year, let's say you collect 500 emails. And once a week you send them authentic, connection-driven emails that make them feel you understand them.

You give them free info, high-value content, maybe a free gift like a free consultation, online checklist, or custom coupon just for being in the email list.

If you're writing genuine heartfelt subject lines, they'll open that email and a bond of trust begins to form. In their mind, you become the expert and that's when you'll start getting questions, feedback, engagement.

That's when you'll start to sell because people only buy from who they trust.

So YES, you need an email list. If you don't have one, build it, because you are losing out on money, a community, and a word-of-mouth marketing system that is so valuable ESPECIALLY here in Hawaii. ๐ŸŒบ

Hi Hawaii, is your sales funnel making you money?

But before we get there...do you know what a sales funnel is? Because it's the question that I get asked the most.

"Hey Amy, what's a sales funnel?"
"Hey Amy, do I have a sales funnel?"
"Hey Amy, do you do sales funnels?"

Have you ever wondered something similar? You're not alone. Hawaii business owners who want to really dig into their niche and become the best in their field do their research...and sales funnels is what they run into when they google things like:

"How do I get more clients?"
"Why isn't anyone signing up for my newsletter?"
"How do I get more people to buy?"

If you've stumbled on sales funnels on the internet, you know by now it's a HUGE topic. It's difficult to explain (even harder to implement) but the concept is easy.

In one sentence: the sales funnel is the buyer's journey from the time they know about you to the time they buy.

Here's a common sales funnel everyone has experienced:

1.You land on an ecommerce shop.
2.10 seconds into browsing you get a pop-up that says: 15% off your first order with us...just give us your email.
3.You really want that 15% off so you give your email and you get a promo code.
4.Now you get emails from that company all year round and if you ever buy their product even once in the future, their sales funnel has worked.

So now you're thinking...

"Amy, that's all spam mail."

But is it really?

You've at least once opened up a "spam" email at least once. Maybe you bought, and maybe you didn't, but some of those email opens will convert to sales.

So, do you have a sales funnel?

Sales funnels are a big topic that I could never fit in an IG post. If you want more, comment below so I can work on a part 2!

Concept homepage design for a wedding dressmaker in Honolulu, Hawaii. Weddings in Hawaii are huge and this simple photo with a bride to be enjoying her time with her dressmaker is special. Planning a wedding is both a stressful and amazing experience, so having a dressmaker who understands what you're looking for is something to be thankful for.

I'm not a coffee drinker but I am known to favor dark roasts from time to time. You really get that full-bodied coffee flavor without that kick of caffeine which is nice when you need to sleep!

I had some fun fooling around with colors here. The inspiration came from all the kona coffee we have in Hawaii. I don't recall seeing any landing pages for kona coffee recently, but this would make a fun one for those who love dark roasts.
