About The Flower

This year’s holiday greetings features the Pualoalo. A tall wall of Pualoalo lined the perimeter of the property of Charles and Nina Maxwell in Upcountry, Maui. “These pua bring me some of the fondest memories of spending time with my maternal grandparents. The holidays were always spent at our grandparents home. My Tutu told me she chose Pualoalo for her yard because it was a native plant and she could use it in her hair at any time. I loved these tall hedges, I loved when Tutu picked a bunch of the flowers to put in her hair, a quintessential tutu-look. The holidays are always a time where I am grateful and recount memories of holidays past,” said Pae ‘Āina Communications’ President & Chief Consultant Adrian Kamaliʻi, who digitally created the flower as part of his Wahī I Ke Aloha Paper Company.

We have purposefully stayed away from posting anything related to the devastation that permanently changed the face of Lahaina, Maui. While social media has shared the heartache, loss, and life-altering scenes, it has also garnered the power of generosity from across the globe.

The coming weeks will continue to bear stories of unspeakable loss and tragedy, and we will witness beautiful stories of community and aloha. We know full well that the face of Lahaina may have changed, but the heart of this town is strong.

The measure of Hawai‘i’s strength is how we came together in the days after August 8th when the streets of Heaven were too crowded with angels.

Kākoʻo Maui. Mālama Maui. Kōkua Maui. Aloha Maui. Do it all, because we are certain that if the time comes for any other island in need, we will rise to kākoʻo, mālama, kōkua and aloha.

We are happy to support the following organizations:
