Aggressive sales tactics: Did you guys see the hot water that Nvidia is in lately? 🔥
Nvidia, a leader in AI chips, is currently under investigation by the DOJ for anti-competitive practices—and it’s pretty wild. Allegedly, they’re going beyond aggressive sales techniques and threatening to sue their own customers if they even think about switching to a competitor.
Think about it: Instead of letting the best product win in an open market, they’re using their dominance to lock customers into their ecosystem with anti-competitive pricing and legal threats. It’s not just Nvidia—this type of tactic has shown up across the industry with giants like SAP and Microsoft, all of them leveraging their market power to push out competition and leave customers with fewer choices.
I was speaking to my mentor Mark McCarthy about this, and he explained, "It's easier to create a commercial imperative than it is to innovate." That's why we see legacy software companies resorting to these types of tactics.

The consequences of these strategies? Limited customer choice, skyrocketing prices, and a marketplace that becomes more closed off to the kind of disruption and new ideas that drive tech forward.
