Stewarding a cooperative economy that honors culture, community and climate. Kudos to a pioneering credit union, revitalizing a landmark space.

Kaua‘i Federal Credit Union

Read the full press release link below.

Kauaʻi Federal Credit Union today announced Kalukalu at 1624 as the name for an economic resilience center at 1624 Kuhio Highway in Kapaʻa, heralding a new era in community-based banking.

The announcement follows Kauaʻi Federal Credit Union's purchase of the former Otsuka Furniture store in October 2022 and its conversion to an economic resilience center (ERC),
mobilizing action on island priorities such as affordable housing, small business innovation, climate change mitigation, and non-profit capacity building.

Kalukalu at 1624 invites a confluence of ideas, perspectives, and resources to a pioneering cooperative space, grounding a shared intention to return to a thriving past.

Kapaʻa Pop-Up Branch Hours and Services in preparation for opening a full-service branch in Kapaʻa, Kauaʻi FCU will offer pop-up branch services at Kalukalu at 1624 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 am – 3 pm or by appointment.

There’s no substitute for live event programming, when Hawai’i Book & Music Festival presents a dozen simultaneous venues with 150 separate events, VIP speakers, two stages, 35 exhibitors and a food court, and on average 15-20,000 attendees over the two days.

We need your help to bring the festival back in its entirety in October 2024! We’re a third of the way there, thanks to a six-figure grant from the City & County of Honolulu.

Support Hawaii Book and Music Festival by attending a fundraiser on October 26th featuring the Hawai’i debut of star concert pianist Alpin Hong, whom The New York Times calls “a pianistic firebrand.”

Please share this invitation with any and all who love books and music.

Tickets at: bit.ly/HBMFFundraiser

If you cannot attend, donations are welcomed at: www.HBMF.online

Thank you!
