Every once in awhile we get to work on an extra special scanning project - and this project with and might be our favorite yet! Our production team made a trip over to Iolani Palace where they built a special rig that allowed our camera to scan every incredible detail of Queen Lili’uikalani’s priceless quilt.

While imprisoned within Iolani Palace in 1895, Queen Lili’uokalani made a 97” x 95” patchwork “crazy style” quilt to document her experiences. The 9 panel quilt includes colorful silks and ribbons believed to be from the Queen’s wardrobe, and is kept safely under a layer of Plexiglass in Queen Lili’uikalani’s “prison” room within the palace.

We were very honored to scan such an important piece of Hawaiian history!
