I once read an article about something called the competition fallacy - the ideology that, in business, success is finite and limited to few. This false concept stresses the idea that there is only so much business to go around and the only way to achieve the success desired, one must eliminate any and all possible sources of competition.

In fact, empowerment is far more powerful than elimination. You see, many people are so tied up trying to identify, strategize against and dominate their competition, this sense of empowering others is lost in the shuffle.

Bill Gates expresses it best when he said, “As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.” In a world obsessed with climbing the social ladder of influence and status, many forget that the best way to empower oneself is to first empower others. I believe it’s time to rethink our approach to getting ahead - focusing instead on empowering, uplifting, enlightening and celebrating the success of others despite the world teaching us that we should always be at odds with one another. What kinds of things teach/inspire/drive you? And more importantly, WHO are you speaking to and WHY does what you’re sharing matter?

Just got out of a meeting with a great client. Can I say how much I love these face-to-face interactions with my clients? Sometimes I get so caught up in my online community, I fail to remember how great it feels to just meet with my clients and talk about life, the state of their business and how they are reaching their goals.
