A reminder of just how creative our 🐤 animal friends are—and that nature makes do with what we leave behind. 🌿 Let’s work together to build a brighter world for all by leaving less and picking up more—starting with the simple act of grabbing anything you find while out on your daily walk or while walking your pups! ♻️🐾

✨ SHINE Marketing & Communications ✨ is honored to serve as managing editor of Westwood Lutheran Church's Quarterly Environmental Sustainability Newsletter, A Greener Westwood, A Greener World! 💚🌱

In each edition, we're sharing seasonal tips on how we can work together to care for our one home 🌎 and all we share it with. 🐦🦌🦋🌳

See below for how YOU can help this fall, and share to inspire others! 🫶🏽

🍂 Here are 4 simple ways to make this season greener:

🌿 Tip #1: Fertilize the natural way. Chemical fertilizers can be harmful— and even deadly—to pollinators, birds, wildlife, our beloved pets, as well as contaminate the water we rely on. Use compost and aged manure instead—and show kindness to those we share our world (and yards) with!

🌸 Tip #2: Plant native flowers & pollinator-friendly plants. Think coneflowers, black-eyed Susans, asters, and prairie grasses. Low-maintenance and water-wise, they feed pollinators and provide seeds and shelter for winter wildlife.

🎃 Tip #3: Compost your pumpkins. Give them a second life by turning them into rich, natural soil for your garden. (Other ideas include: roasting the seeds, making soup, and sharing with wildlife!)

🍁 Tip #4: Leave fall leaves and plant debris in your garden. Fall leaves = winter homes! Leaves and garden debris provide food and shelter for pollinators, insects, and wildlife all season long.

By following these simple steps, we can help restore, sustain, and help all of Creation flourish once more. 🌺
