Last year when many summer festivals were cancelled, The Hopkins Raspberry Festival-in true Hopkins fashion-found a way to carry on with a combination of virtual events and creative ideas, including drive-through neighborhood parades. For this year's creative, we wanted to showcase Hopkins Raspberry Festival pride and fly that banner high. So high you could see it from miles around. And to make it extra special, we brought in our old friend Dennis Auth to illustrate. This years festival is back in all its Raspberry glory from July 14-18. You can find all the details at http://www.raspberrycapital.com Come to Hopkins and take part in a tradition preserved since 1935!

Excited to be putting the finishing touches these past few weeks on our latest project for Centerspace's Regency Park development in St. Cloud, just down the block from the Mississippi's Beaver Islands. Here's the 1908 Beaver Islands postcard we turned into a full wall graphic for the managers office. Special thanks to Steven Penick and team at the Stearns History Museum for all their support and that sweet 2400dpi scan that let us turn a 10"x 6" postcard into a 22' x 8' wall graphic!

Really enjoyed adding a little history to the new Connelly on Eleven Community Center seating area as part of our recent Centerspace project in Burnsville. We didn't want to cover that gorgeous red paint with a full wall graphic so we chose a technique called 'w**d & mask', similar to the old press transfer type. Love the way it just makes the whole seating area feel like part of a story. Big shout out to our buds at First Impression Group for the always stellar print and install work and to Stu Sandler and friends at Font Bros. for the authentic 60's era type.

On this day 20 years ago I jumped off a cliff. Figuratively, but still, a test of faith. I walked away from a good gig, followed my passion, and hung my own shingle out. I named the company Platt Hollow Road, after the road my grandfathers farm was on. The logo was the two Colorado Spruce trees in front of his house that were planted by my parents and were now over 70-ft tall. I had no clients. And I did it because I wanted to do good work, not make money. It was not what you would call a rock-solid business plan. I was curious about what made companies and organizations tick. I loved storytelling. And I believed you could design a better experience, not just a better ad. When everyone else in town had an advertising agency, I opened up a brand design firm. We had to explain to a lot of people what that meant. These days we’re working more and more with developers and architects telling stories in spaces. And we still have to explain to a lot of people what that means. To all the amazing people that I've had the good fortune to cross paths with on this adventure, thank you for making it worthwhile. Here’s to the road ahead.

Bringing 150 years of Burnsville history into the new Connelly on Eleven community clubhouse starts with the Connelly Farms famous roadside stand of the 60’s. The authentic sign painter typeface gave us a nice compliment to the architecture and provided the story a solid graphic foundation to have fun with inside the space. Part of our new project for Centerspace located on the site of one of Burnsville’s oldest farms.

I'd like to interrupt this past week... month... year... and share with you the bucolic imagery of a 1933 Maryland, NY postcard. Just close your eyes for a moment and imagine the sounds of rustling leaves next to a flowing stream. See, I bet you feel better already.
