The Origin Story
Addair.io's journey began unexpectedly at the end of 2019, when two former high school classmates, Alexander & Anton started dreaming up ways they could make the world a better place, deciding to work together and create something of value, for themselves, their communities, and their cities at large.
Deeply passionate about technology, environment & innovation, fortune saw the two signing a local distributorship contract with Airly, the Polish Start-Up set to and monitor pollution globally. As the duo began investing their spare time into building Airly's dense network of Sensors in Romania, they soon realised that reducing the effects of pollution in urban environments was a matter more urgent than politics could solve.
Thus, AddAir.io's idea of developing sustainable Air Monitoring & Purification Networks at urban scales was born, and slowly began gaining traction with local government and support from their first group of investors, as the company entered its initial R&D stage, in June 2020.
Little did the founders understood back then, developing and scaling city-wide digital lungs for our cities was not going to be an easy task, and, as with all things science, the more they were learning through their research, the more they were realising how little they knew. AddAir’s initial R&D Stage burned through more than 70.000 Euros of their money, and, while attaining most of the research objectives set out, the young tech start-up gained a painful, but equally valuable insight, by the end of 2021;
“Building the Start-Up is different than running a Company”
Our company’s origin story does not end here, as we’re still writing it to this day, and our reason to share is more about journaling our efforts so far as an anchor for wisdom, but also as an opportunity to announce that we’ll be opening our next round of PreSeed Investment, beginning with early April this year.
