The Islamic Arts Society held its inaugural quarterly Advisory Board meeting on June 13, 2026, bringing together a distinguished group of academic and cultural leaders who support the Society’s mission and activities.
During the meeting, members reviewed the Society’s key programs and upcoming projects and discussed ways to strengthen cultural and artistic partnerships that advance Islamic arts in the United States and highlight their aesthetic, cultural, and humanitarian values, in line with the Society’s vision of promoting harmony through beauty.
The Society is recognized as one of the leading cultural organizations in its field and organizes the largest annual Islamic arts festival in the United States in collaboration with Rice University and several prominent international cultural and arts institutions. The festival attracts thousands of visitors, artists, scholars, and cultural enthusiasts each year.
The meeting also welcomed Dr. Abdelrahim Al-Hour as a new member of the Advisory Board in recognition of his extensive academic and professional experience and his contributions to media, economics, and cultural engagement.
In addition, the Society announced that it has received a significant matching grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and encouraged community members and supporters to contribute generously to help advance its cultural programs and initiatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Advisory Board reaffirmed its commitment to supporting innovative initiatives that celebrate the richness of Islamic heritage and foster greater understanding, respect, and cultural exchange among diverse communities in the United States and beyond.
