"Our staff is amazing.”

That’s how our Owners answered when we asked the team what Hollaway means to them. Fourteen people, in their own words: opportunity, community, acceptance, empathy, kind. A cooperative environment full of people who care about doing things well and doing them right. An all-female-owned company doing it the right way. A reason to stick around eighteen-plus years.
We recorded it before we closed — because today is Hollaway Day. September 24, proclaimed by the City of Houston in 2024, and kept by us as a paid company holiday ever since. It’s the one day a year we put “live fully” on the calendar instead of the wall.

Our third one, and our first since a rebrand. New look, same people. Hit play and meet them.

Thank you for thirty-two years. We’ll see you Friday. 💜

Tomorrow our office is closed — for a holiday only about thirty people in Texas get.

Two years ago the City of Houston proclaimed September 24 Hollaway Day. We turned it into a paid company holiday, and we’ve kept it every year since. Our mission says we build a workplace where people live fully; this is the one day a year the right thing to do for the firm is to rest.

Call tomorrow and you’ll get voicemail. We’ll be back Friday, September 25.

If you’ve worked with us, sat in one of our public meetings, or just waved at our field truck — thank you. This day is partly yours. 💜

It’s National Estuaries Week, September 19–26. 🦪

Texas bays are the nursery for most of the fish and shellfish we catch, and oyster reef is what holds the system together — filtering water, sheltering fish and crabs, and softening the waves that wear away our shorelines.

When a reef goes back in, someone has to mark it so boats know it’s there. That’s what this sign is. It means the reef is working.

We asked Fabiana what Hollaway means to her and she said community — a team that meshes well together to accomplish a common goal. Her advice for anyone starting out: don’t be afraid to be yourself, wear your fun patterns and your fun colors, and be who you are.

Ever wonder what a wetland actually does? 🌾
Two big things. It stores floodwater — the EPA estimates a single acre holds about a million gallons — and it filters the water passing through it, catching sediment, nutrients, and pollutants before they reach our streams and bays.

For more than 30 years, our environmental scientists have been out in Texas marshes and prairies delineating wetlands so projects can work with these systems instead of against them. Swipe through to see what we mean — that soggy field you drive past is doing a lot of work. 💜💗
