// Mourning Star // Cascading Twilight // Self-Released CDR // As many of you know all too well, I simply cannot be moved to align with, or even promote something that I do not wholly believe in or support. After the initial bubble burst effect to the endless sea of carbon copies, sycophantic thieves, and weekend warrior types rushing to cash in on the equally massive throngs of FOMO junkies buying projects in hopes they can resell for ridiculous quantities on the second hand market, what actually suffered was the quality, authenticity, and potential visibility of projects like this one. You could classify it as you’d like, but there is a sincerity and unquenchable fire that resides in this material. It reminds me of the interludes from early Burzum or Satyricon material that you wished would go on longer than it did between tracks, or even the majestic pallor of early Mortiis. But far from being simply derivative this material is distinctly Vinlandic. The circles that runs in speaks for itself, and it’s easy to see that this individual has an immense amount of respect for the ways of those that came before, while treading paths that are his alone. The tracks on this EP will ignite that same pagan ferocity in all of us that hail from lands to the north. Those dormant voices that call us all back to our home and can never be extinguished, not by tyrants, institutions, nor cultural warfare. So pay attention to what comes next for this project and others associated with this artist, because his heart is in the right place and the art will surely follow. //
