If you use Linktree stop right there!🖐

In theory, using these tools seems like a great idea, but here’s what happens…

Because of that added step that forces visitors to go through these external sites, the conversation rate of someone actually making it to your site decreases. You’ve put in all of this work to get people to your site and now this tool that seems like it should be helpful is actually affecting your traffic rate.

The other downside to Linktree is that you are limited in your branding. Even if you upgrade to a paid version, you still don’t get full reign of your branding.

FEAR NOT because I’ve got a super easy hack for this that will actually save you money! Follow the slides above to create your own version Linktree on your site!

Are you ~flipping~ out over trying to figure out what platform to build your website on?

Trying to figure out what platform to build your website on brings up so many questions like:⁣

👉 what is the most budget friendly website platform?⁣
👉 what platform is user friendly?⁣
👉 do I need to know how to code?!⁣
👉 if I hired a website designer, will I need to contact them every time I need something updated?⁣

There are many website designers out there who have different opinions on this, but after years of testing out multiple platforms, myself and team have found time and time again that Wix is the best platform to build on for musicians and creatives!⁣

Why?⁣

Not only is it competitively priced compared to other platforms, but it’s mobile friendly, user friendly, you DON’T need to know how to code which also means that if we design your site, you’ll be able to use it and update it in the future, AND it has designated sections for SEO so you can rank higher on Google! 🤩⁣

You could absolutely use a platform that is complex and takes you months to learn, but if you have the technology to build a stunning website in just one week, why make your life harder?⁣

Life is hard but this doesn't have to be.

This website tip has been brought to you by caramel coffee creamer and an even more unparalleled love for website design 😂

🔮 Website Reveal for Tori Yaussy!🔮

If you follow or Tori herself, you probably saw that we shared this website reveal a few weeks ago, but I just love it so much, I had to share it here to make sure you all saw it!

Tori is an incredible flutist, teacher, and podcaster in Houston, Texas. When I was reading her website copy, it was so clear how passionate she is about the overall success of her students and the intention she puts behind everything she does so that classical music is as welcoming as possible, be it for her students or the audiences she performs for.

What I love most about her website is how much of her personality is the copy and branding. It’s unique, memorable, and highlights all of her skills!

To see this fabulous website for yourself, visit www.toriyaussy.com!

Things that are OUT in 2023: throwing one picture on your homepage with your name and calling it a day.

Your homepage needs to be built out if you actually want people to take action. Think of it like the cover of a magazine — it gives people a brief overview of who you are and what you have to offer.

On your homepage you can include testimonials, a brief about you section, a few options to different offers, even a link to a freebie, and maaaaybe one other section. This is the perfect balance for showcasing why visitors should continue to explore your site and offerings without over or underwhelming them!

Many artist websites in the past have used the formatting of limiting their homepage to a photo but it’s outdated and it’s not serving you based on how Google functions. If you have a page with a low word count, Google can’t read what you’re offering and it will not view you as a strong enough resource.

If there’s anything you ever take away from my page, I hope it’s that you’ll build out your homepage so that it works for you and helps you land more clients, students, and gigs!!

Now go forth and build!

Everyone take 30 minutes today to check their website to make sure everything is working!!

Sometimes things move and spacing can get funky — it’s important to check in on your site periodically to make sure nothing has moved and that all of your links are still working!

To make it as easy as possible for you, here’s a quick checklist:

🪄Go through the main pages and scan to make sure everything is where it should be on the desktop

🪄Send a test email in your contact form to make sure it’s working

🪄If there’s anything you’re selling/offering right now, test the links to make sure they go to the proper place

🪄Check for formatting on the mobile version and that everything is spaced properly and clearly and that nothing is smushed!

And there you have it folks, a quick 30 minute check to ensure that your site is in tip top shape!

Want some accountability on this? Let me know and I’ll set a reminder to check in with you next week!

Words you’ll never hear come out of my mouth as a web designer:

“Websites are super easy to throw together and take no time at all!”

LOL what a lie that is.

I know you might hate to hear it, but websites ARE a heck of a lot of work — that’s why people hire us to build them out for them.

But I know for a fact that not everyone can afford a custom built site so I want to share some tips on how you can make the process easier!!

💅 Tip number 1: organize what you need to do for each page

This is really helpful for building out your site for the first time or making updates! I like to use a spreadsheet to mark the page and what needs to be done. That way it helps break down what I need to do in a clearer and more visual format!

💅 Tip number 2: have an accountability buddy

Chances are high you have a friend who also needs to update their website or has administrative tasks they’ve been meaning to do — having someone who is in the zone with you will help to make sure you actually do what you’ve wanted to for so long and make the experience more fun!

💅 Tip number 3: if you’re not feeling confident in your web design skills, there’s a number of ways we can work together!

Learn how to build a site that converts by joining Create Your Career, purchase one of our website templates that makes it easy to add in your own information and cuts the website building time in half, or work with and let us take this off your plate and design the site from start to finish for you!

No matter what stage you’re at in the web design process, I’m here to help!

Haaaaave you ever tried to design your own website and it's just not doing what you want it to?

You're super proud of the fact that you finished it and that it's out in the world (as you freakin should be!!) but you just don't know what it's missing or why it's not converting?

Am I close?

Yeah, I thought so.

Now opening my books for 5 website audits!

How it'll work:
