Facebook has shared its key areas of focus going forward, and they are good news for businesses. Outlining privacy enhancing technologies, product and business discovery, commerce, and business tools beyond marketing, the platform is developing new ways for businesses to reach customers while giving people more control over how their personal information is used in advertising. Facebook is already making use of new elements like job listings (and resume uploads on profiles) as well as improved messaging and digital education tools as a way to enhance the business experience for users. Needless to say, we’re excited about the new ways we’ll be able to use Facebook for our clients.

However, if you use a product, like Alexa or Google Voice with certain AI permissions, you are usually giving the data away for free somehow, and AI-powered marketing is about to get a lot more powerful.

According to Fast Company, Marketers are “on the verge of being able to use AI-assisted vocal analysis technology to achieve unprecedented insights into shoppers’ identities and inclinations. In doing so, they believe they’ll be able to circumvent the errors and fraud associated with traditional targeted advertising.”

You’re not hearing things—well you are, but it’s not a figment of your imagination—it’s a Soundmoji. Facebook Messenger recently launched a new feature that adds an auditory component to the once silent, yet always expressive, chat emoji. When added to a message, Soundmojis will play an audio snippet, which the recipient will hear when they receive the message. Big changes are coming to your favorite picture posting app, in fact tests are already running. We’ve seen Instagram’s push towards video content with the implementation of IGTV and ‘Reels,’ but just a few weeks ago, it was announced that IG would no longer just be “a photo-sharing app or a square photo-sharing app.” One change that users will see on their feed is full-screen, recommended videos from accounts that they don’t follow. We read somewhere that if your brand doesn’t have a voice, it is likely to fail. While we would love to disagree with an exception to the rule, we cannot. The voice of your brand is just as (if not more) important as brand identity. If your content didn’t include your logo, would your audience know it belonged to your brand? If someone views your content on different channels, would they know it all came from the same brand?

Developing brand recognition with consumers requires consistency and repetition. If your personality or messaging appear to change frequently, it’s harder for audiences to know exactly what you’re all about. It’s important to be consistent with the voice you are creating to position your business as an easily identified and authoritative source for your area of expertise.

New and improved stories are here as Pinterest launched its new version of the popular social media feature. Pinterest’s ‘Idea Pins’ will work similarly to the stories that you are already used to, but instead of disappearing after 24 hours, they will remain on your profile. ‘Idea Pins’ also give creators the ability to:
- add topic tags
- tag other Pinterest creators by using their
- export Idea Pins that are shareable on other platforms with Pinterest branding
- edit their clips, including stickers, voiceover and music options
- use “ghost mode” to overlay the previous frame on the composer and help guide video transitions.
