SAMSON MEDICINE'S DAUGHTER was the likely inscription, since Samson Medicine, circa 1876 to 1944, was living on Montana’s Northern Cheyenne Reservation. The girl may be Jennie Medicine, reportedly 1902-1998. Photo dated from 1906-07. There were cowry (cowrie) shells on the girl’s dress, not elk teeth. (Click image to enlarge.)

Another hour would have cleaned the image better, but not have revealed any more detail. The shot was among the 250 photos I scanned for the Range Riders Museum of Miles City, Montana.
