Well, perhaps not all, part were my fears And I suppose if I think I can also say That if I've lost anything, it's really the way That I treated the things that used to be mine. I saw clouds on the days where there was really sunshine, I turned often to darkness instead of the light. I saw all of the wrong, but never the right, And in all honesty, I supposed I must say If I've lost anything, I gave it away.

1910 MYSTERY: How did the photographer get so high above Miles City’s Main Street? The shot for this colorized postcard originated from a point about as high as the Wibuax Building (three-story structure at the right), perhaps 60+ feet. The photo was by Thiri’s Aerial View Service of Polson. Before airplanes were flying, Thiri got his shots from building tops, window ledges, grain elevators, poles, tree limbs, mountains. But, none of these explain this shot. Thiri never used a balloon.

Main Street was a dirt road until 1918. Streetlights had been installed in 1909. The Wibaux Building and the Olive Hotel were the best buildings in town. Miles City, population 5,000, was growing rapidly after the arrival of the Milwaukee Railroad (1907) and passage of the Enlarged Homestead Act (1909). [My later post of Feb. 12, 2018, showed an even higher view and explained how Thiri obtained his captures.] -Gary Coffrin.

“The Spear Cut on Big Wolf,” circa 1915. The L.A. Huffman photo was hand-colored at his Miles City (Montana) studio. The treeless prairie was south of Hardin near the Big Wolf Mountains. As with many Huffman shots of cowboys at work, there was no posing, no facing the camera.

The Spear O Ranch leased 1,000,000 acres and ran 50,000 cattle on and near Montana’s Crow Reservation. The Spear brand on the horse was emphasized in black by the colorist. Gil Birmingham is an American actor of Comanche ancestry, best known for his portrayal of Billy Black in the The Twilight Saga film series.

Birmingham was born in San Antonio, Texas. His family moved frequently during his childhood, due to his father's career in the military. He learned to play the guitar at an early age and considers music his "first love". After obtaining a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California, he worked as a petrochemical engineer before becoming an actor. In the early 1980s, a talent scout spotted Birmingham at a local gym, where he had been bodybuilding and entering bodybuilding contests. This led to his first acting experience, in a music video for Diana Ross, for her 1982 hit song "Muscles". After appearing in Ross' music video, Birmingham began to pursue acting as his primary career. He studied acting with Larry Moss and Charles Conrad. In 1986, Birmingham made his television debut on an episode of the series Riptide. By 2002, he had a recurring role as the character Oz in the medical drama Body & Soul, starring Peter Strauss. In 2005, he was cast as the older Dogstar in the Steven Spielberg six-part miniseries Into the West. He recently played a Texas ranger a ranger, in Hell or High Water, opposite Jeff Bridges.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞, whose real name is Geswanouth Slahoot, was a Canadian actor, poet, and writer of Indigenous descent. He was born on July 24, 1899, belonging to the Tsleil-Waututh (Salish) tribe, in a settlement near North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He became widely known for his acting career, especially in films portraying Indigenous characters.

Brilliantly colored flashing graphics, moving, walking, and yelling salespeople, and too much real-life drama makes us sigh and give thanks for a television remote control. We forget we have another remote control right in our thinking. We can change channels - even eliminate crazy pictures that try to fix themselves in our minds. Good music helps to soothe out the wrinkles in our turbulent thinking. Wasn't it Saul that called for a musician when he needed to think or pray? Give yourself credit for taking control - for choosing well - and watch things turn around. ~ Yonder sky that has wept tears of compassion upon my people for centuries untold, and that which to us appears changeless and eternal, may change. ~

Danny Trejo, born on May 16, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, is a renowned American actor (of Mexican descent) known for his distinctive appearance and frequent roles as a villain in many action and crime films. Having endured a difficult childhood and many years in prison for drug-related and violent offenses, Trejo found a way out through participating in rehabilitation programs and becoming a boxing champion in prison.
