Most leaders think recognition is something you do occasionally.
The best leaders treat it as a discipline.
Employee appreciation shouldn't be reserved for a holiday, an annual awards ceremony, or a line item in an HR program. Recognition is one of the clearest ways leaders reinforce what matters, shape culture, and build engagement.
What gets recognized gets repeated.
When leaders consistently acknowledge behaviors that align with company values—ownership, collaboration, initiative, generosity, innovation—they make culture tangible. When recognition is sporadic or generic, culture becomes ambiguous.
People don't just stay where they're paid well.
They stay where they are seen.
