Trying to teach the cultural significants of Waistbeads has been challenging because some are so traditionally lost in todays world. It’s so disheartening at times. This world is so sexualized in the negative way that we don’t look to have better understanding. Read what some one else wrote and then dig deep for your own answers and assurance.

Waistbeads are a custom in our African ancestral culture for a plethora of reasons. They are very much appropriate and given to babies upon birth and at naming ceremonies, after babies first bath, given to little girls when they hit stages of puberty, and again when they start their cycle to signify womanhood.
