👻 The ghosts are coming back… one by one. 👻

The Thir13en Ghosts universe is expanding with not one, but two chilling new projects in development. A 13-episode horror anthology is set to explore the terrifying backstories of each ghost from the 2001 cult classic, with original director Steve Beck involved and eyeing a Paramount+ release.

At the same time, Dark Castle Entertainment is developing its own 13-part series, diving even deeper into the lore of every trapped spirit, potentially with immersive elements to bring the horror even closer. 🩸🕯️

This Christmas, the BBC continues its tradition of ghostly holiday tales with 'The Room in the Tower', adapted and directed by Mark Gatiss.

Based on a chilling story by E.F. Benson, the new drama stars Tobias Menzies ('The Crown') and Dame Joanna Lumley ('Absolutely Fabulous', 'Motherland'). They’re joined by Nancy Carroll ('Father Brown'), Ben Mansfield ('Endeavour'), and Polly Walker ('Bridgerton').

Set in the inter-war years, the story follows Roger Winstanley, a man plagued for 15 years by the same unsettling dream—an invitation to spend the night in a country house, where figures age in real time and an unseen terror waits in the dreaded “room in the tower.” When nightmare collides with waking life, the invitation becomes horrifyingly real.

Filmed earlier this year at Cobham Hall in Kent, this marks Gatiss’s eighth 'Ghost Story for Christmas' following Lot No. 249, The Mezzotint, Count Magnus, and others.

'A Ghost Story for Christmas: The Room in the Tower' will air on BBC Two and iPlayer this December. US release details have not yet been announced.
