Meet Jennifer Rubio, Co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of online luggage retailer and lifestyle travel brand, .
Jennifer got her start in business after dropping out of Penn State to pursue a job opportunity with Neutrogena. Overtime, her social media experience led her to become the Head of Social Media for popular e-commerce eyewear brand, Warby Parker in 2011. It was there that she met her future business partner, Stephanie Korey.
Away was formed in 2015 after Jennifer broke her suitcase at an airport in Zurich. Ironically, when she asked for luggage recommendations on FB, she was unable to find a suitable suitcase on the market. Hence, her idea for Away was born π.
Now valued at $1.4 billion, Away improved upon traditional luggage design by adding innovative features such as built-in batteries for phone charging, a hidden laundry bag compartment and on-trend color options.
