Sitting at my nephew’s baseball practice Monday, just minding my business, when I get a phone call from a number I don’t know.

I answer it, and it’s a sweet lady telling me she picked up Living in Parish from Carter’s on Hatchell.

She goes, “I had to call you.”

Y’all… she doesn’t have Facebook. Didn’t find us online first. Didn’t see an ad.

She walked into a local store, saw a free magazine on a rack, picked it up… and it worked.

She told me two things in that magazine caught her attention immediately. The French Settlement Roasting Co. feature, because she wanted to know where she could get that coffee, and the Chris Glaser Faces of the Parish article.

She’s turning 66 soon and has been looking for someone local to help her with Medicare. Not Lafayette. Not Hammond. Local.

And she found him… in the magazine.

Then she went to our website, found my number, and called me just to tell me.

That right there is why we do this.

And I’m not even going to turn this into some big sales pitch… but I am going to say this.

This is exactly what happens when you put your business in front of the right people, in the right place, in a way they’ll actually sit down and spend time with.

Not everything happens online. Not everyone is scrolling. Some people are still walking into Carter’s, picking something up, and reading every page.

And when they do… it sticks.

If you’ve been watching from the sidelines, just know this isn’t just “a magazine.” It’s working
