Mark your calendars now! The sweetest event of the holiday season will be on Dec. 14th at Levy Park! The annual Architecture Center Houston Gingerbread Build-off is something everyone should experience at least once to see the incredible creations built entirely of edible materials. It's free to attend, and teams can still sign up to build. Acting in her official capacity as President of ArCH, Carrie Meeks Stallwitz will be a judge this year.🎉

Architecture Center Houston will host the 15th Annual Gingerbread Build-Off at Levy Park on Saturday, December 14, 2024.Competing teams will create 100% edible, architectural masterpieces using gingerbread, candy, and all […]

How can two nearly identical houses in have a market value difference of 250% or more?

That’s the question the new exhibit, Unequal Inequities, will explore. Redlining, discriminatory lending, and exclusionary zoning have created injustices across the city. What can the community do to support inclusive efforts for change? We will have several programs over the next tei months to dig into this topic. The exhibit is free and will on view until 17 Jan 2025 at Architecture Center Houston. Shoutout to the indefatigable Gregory Benjamin for his work over the past two years to make this exhibit happen.

makes communities better.

The owners of Houston microbrewery Baileson Brewing Company bought a beloved neighborhood gas station/auto repair shop and converted it into a dog-friendly watering hole turning out delicious brews and welcoming all. Owners/brewmaster Sarah and Adam Cryer brought in Method Architecture to work their design magic on the adaptive reuse while still maintaining as much of the original building and finishes as possible. The result is the perfect indoor/outdoor local joint for enjoying barley pops with friends.

Big thank you to Sarah and Adam for hosting Architecture Center Houston for our event. It was our biggest yet! 👏 Katherine Rorie and Ashley Bettcher from Method, thank you for the design insight. Haute Chef Kingsley whipped up the most delicious selection of international street food that paired perfectly with the double IPA. And Jonathan Williams (who just joined our Programming Committee a couple months ago) let me rope him into doing a great Q&A. Pinnacle Structural Engineers your gracious sponsorship made this possible.

A big thank you to for welcoming our group and sharing your delicious beer selection, for walking us through the design process, .chef.kingsley for your mouth watering bites and for sponsoring.

AMB Architects is going global! But closer to home. They designed the new shopping center in Houston's Little Saigon. Thanks to Florian Martin at Houston Business Journal for the story about bringing higher-quality development to this stretch of Bellaire Boulevard. Kudos to Huynh Investment Group and White House Global Properties on this project. Bonus points for including EV chargers!!!

Good morning, Vietnam: New retail centers are rising in Houston's Little Saigon area.

Exhibition Opening: all are WELCOME for this opening on 22 February at Architecture Center Houston. The exhibition will be on display through April and FREE to view.

Architecture Center Houston is proud to announce our upcoming exhibition The Voices of People. The Stories of Place. The Politics of Power., opening Thursday, February 22, 6-8pm, and on view through April 26, 2024.

Curated by Susan Rogers and José Mario López, the exhibition amplifies and centers the voices and visions of twelve Houston communities and their leaders, through video, stories, maps and photographs.

The Voices of the People. mediates and disrupts the relationships between public and private, fast and slow, the privileged and the overlooked, the beautiful and the ordinary, through a curated collection of visual, text, and audio storytelling focused on twelve Houston neighborhoods. The layered stories, intertwined across mediums, celebrate the power of people and the significance of place. Pasadena-based photographer Joe Robles IV worked with curators, Susan Rogers and Mario Lopez, to develop life size portraits of community leaders, standing firm in place. The portraits are a celebration of strength and resilience—of what it means to stand up to power, to stand for rights, to fight for change, and embrace a different future.

Dialogue and conversations, listening and sharing, are critical components of the exhibit, disrupting who makes and sits at the table, and organized through a series of public events that privilege, respect, and promote community voice over those of experts. This dialogue is intended to explore intersectionality as it relates to people, the places they call home, and the power to imagine and achieve a new system with new values.

Multigenerational, modern . These homes allow for a mother and son to continue living at home with the ability for full-time caregiving. Another thoughtful and stunning project from Cipriani Studios.

NEW PROJECT: The Cura Homes are side-by-side residences for a mother and son who require hands-on caregiving. To meet their unique needs, we created a spa-like vibe focused on wellness and serenity, as the son loves swimming and sunshine.

Each Cura Home has 4 beds, 3.5 baths, a roof deck, sun patio, 2-car garage and more spread over 2,600 SF, with south-facing window walls that flood the interiors in natural light. One of the homes has both an indoor and outdoor pool, for year-round swimming.
