How can communicators better inform and engage Houston’s diverse communities?

At the 2nd annual Houston Community Media Expo, Elmore Principal Cynthia Hurrington moderated a plenary session focused on strategies for reaching diverse audiences. Panelists shared perspectives on the challenges of communicating across communities, the importance of learning from the people they serve, and how organizations can make their messages more relevant and effective.

The event brought together ethnic-media journalists, outlet owners, communications professionals, and civic leaders for conversations about strengthening connections across Houston’s diverse communities.

What does responsible AI use look like for nonprofit communicators?

We recently joined United Way of Greater Houston's Nonprofit Connection for Communicating in the Age of AI, a professional development workshop led by Elmore Managing Principal Jennie Roberts and Communications Strategist Judge Gwyn.

The session explored how communicators can use AI thoughtfully while keeping human judgment, authenticity, and strategy at the center of their work. We also discussed how overreliance on AI-generated content can affect audience trust and engagement.
