We were all excited for our team outing today! We planned to all lunch together in north Houston and then visit the National Museum of Funeral History - the perfect Halloween activity! But then, just as we were gathering at Lupe Yortilla down the street from the museum, a car apparently hit a nearby light pole and caught fire, causing the power to go out at the museum and all nearby restaurants for several hours. So our plans shifted. We made our way yo a nearby Luby’s for lunch and then called it a day a little early. We were nummed but we made the best of the situation! We still had fun together Wouldn’t you know, though, the museum got power back just as we all dispersed from Luby’s. We’ll find another time to go soon. Maybe not with all of us in costume like we were today, but that’s ok! It’ll still be an adventure!

Our client, the South Main Alliance, hosted Community Connect on Monday, Oct 20, 2025, a speakers’ series event featuring City of Houston leaders sharing lots of timely updates abd the latest abd greatest from the city. After launching Community Connect as a virtual event during the pandemic, our SMA leaders were thrilled to have Public Works Director Randy Macchi and Planning & Development Director Vonn Tran as our distinguished guests and speakers launching our first in-person iteration of the program, which also included the one and only Leroy Shafer, long time SMA board member and COO Emeritus of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, as our moderator. What an honor for our team to plan and manage this event with our incredible board members and event partners. And what a wonderful way to lead up to SMA’s 50th anniversary in 2026! We have a lot of great things in store for that big milestone! We can’t wait!

Our team was busy last weekend, working several events for our amazing client, the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce! So many Pride events happening in October, we had to divide and conquer! From Katy Pride to OUToberfest in Bryan/College Station - it was a fun and impactful weekend! Big shout out to Maureen, Amber and Julie from our team for rocking’ those booths and promoting LGBTQ businesses!

We had a great lunch with our friends (and favorite catering connector vender) from Corporate Catering Concierge at Traveler’s Table - a fabulous restaurant in the Montrose area (abd C3 client)! What a joy to meet (and snap a pic with!) the owner Matthew and Executive Chef (of Traveler’s Cart - the sister concept) Miguel Torres! We highly recommend Traveler’s Table and Traveler’s Cart - delish! Dine in or catering - they are amazing! Wishing we had a photo of all the yummy food we got to sample!

It’s been a busy and incredibly productive week for our client, the South Main Alliance! First, we had a super success meeting with Houston Museum District area leaders to reconnect with our museum director friends and explore collaboration opportunities. Then we had a fabulous lunch meeting with our newest board member and now our incoming vice chair, Martye Kendrick, the new CEO of NRG Park. We are excited to keep the momentum going! There are some good things happening at SMA!
