A warm welcome is in order for Parkwood American Grille to Friendswood and to the KPC family. 🥂

The newly opened American grille is the latest from restaurateur Raz Halili and Executive Chef Joe Cervantez, the team behind longtime KPC client Pier 6 Seafood & Oyster House. After years of working alongside them, it’s especially meaningful to see the care, creativity and hard work poured into this new chapter come to life 💛

Parkwood brings dry-aged steaks, Gulf seafood and oysters, classic cocktails — with a bar program crafted alongside the Ladies of Libation — and warm hospitality to its new home.

We’re excited to keep sharing their story and all they have in store, and grateful to Eric Sandler and CultureMap Houston for spreading the word.

Cover star looks good on you, Chef Joe Cervantez!

Pier 6 Seafood Executive Chef Joe Cervantez is front and center in OCM’s September issue, where his seriously stunning blood orange crudo graces the cover as part of the magazine’s look at what’s trending on local menus.

Joe created the dish especially for the issue, pairing Gulf-caught red snapper with bright blood orange and beet ponzu, edible flowers, blood orange and pickled fennel. Just a small glimpse of the creativity he brings to the kitchen in San Leon!

In this issue, he talks fresh Gulf seafood, cooking over an open flame and finding inspiration everywhere while staying true to what Pier 6 does best.

Brennan’s of Houston is among the crème de la crème, recognized for its fiery tableside displays, delicious Gulf-inspired menu, and commitment to staying true to its Texas-Creole traditions and classic roots in a city where so many are reinventing the game.

We’ve been eagerly waiting for this Best Day Ever to come out! Alex Brennan-Martin has incredible taste, endless stories and a deep love for the people, places and traditions that make Houston Houston.

In true Alex fashion, he wasn’t entirely convinced people would want to know what he gets up to day to day. So please prove us right and go read it… but also because it’s simply delightful 😉

His perfect Houston day? A little hunting, Le Petit Market, an everything bagel at Kenny & Ziggy's Delicatessen with Ziggy Gruber, campechana at Goode Co Kitchen & Cantina, a spin through Memorial Park in his ’72 Oldsmobile, then a Sazerac and oysters at Brennan’s of Houston before a very important afternoon nap.

Dinner might mean Bayou City Seafood & Pasta, Etoile Cuisine et Bar, Kata Robata or, naturally, Tex-Mex.

We always love an excuse to talk about Belong Kitchen and Honest Mary's! Thanks to Maggie Flecknoe and H-TOWN LIVE for helping us share the story behind this special collaboration 💚

Earlier this year, Honest Mary’s COO, Andrew Wiseheart, spent the day with the Belong team teaching them how to make a colorful, nutritious, and tasty Sedona Lime Chicken Casserole as part of Belong’s chef collaboration series. We got to watch it all come together from the beginning… and yes, we made sure to order one once it hit the menu! Can confirm: it was delicious.

Belong Kitchen has become such a wonderful partner for our clients. Their mission is to create meaningful employment opportunities for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and collaborations like these give their team the opportunity to learn from some of Houston’s best chefs while serving up some seriously great food.

One of the first concepts to bring Korea’s vibrant late-night dining culture to Houston’s Asiatown, Hongdae invites you to gather around the grill, raise a glass with friends, sing along to K-pop, and soak in the glow of its signature neon lights.

A well-deserved shoutout to Chowhound for recognizing one of our favorite late-night spots in the city… and apparently, in the state too 😉

We can confidently say it wouldn’t be a “Best Seafood List” without Pier 6 Seafood & Oyster House and Joe Cervantez’s talents. He takes the treasures of the Gulf and turns them into unforgettable dishes like their signature Hot Blooded Oysters, golden-fried seafood platter, crawfish empanadas and so much more. Treat yourself to a little drive to , order a flight of Pier Six’s best, and enjoy a taste of the Gulf… well, on the Gulf. 🌊

Carlos caught up with Grace and Leo— the hospitality duo behind Duck n Bao, Hongdae 33, and now 7 Sushi— to talk about the inspiration behind the concept before digging into signature sushi, Japanese robata, and the premium sake that make the experience one to remember.
